Schwallier’s Country Basket is pleased to bring you family fun on the farm and healthy and delicious food in a friendly atmosphere. You will also find a large selection of crafts, decorations, soups, honey, canned goods, which include jellies, preserves, apple butter, salsas, relish, and more! Stop in to enjoy apples, fresh donuts, homemade pies, apple cider, caramel apples, and other treats! Think they’re extinct? Think again. Visit Schwallier’s Country Basket to go on a dinosaur adventure in our corn maze. Every year, we create a completely unique maze adventure based around a fun, educational theme. To get through the maze, you’ll have to answer questions by finding clues in the corn. A trip to the maze brings people together. Youth groups, scouts, families and friends love it. To go through the maze, your group will arrive at the farm and split up into teams of 4-6, (for groups of teens and children, this is usually with an adult for each group). After a brief introduction, the smaller teams are sent into the maze with a gamesheet. Inside the maze each team must work together to explore and find answers. Victory is determined not by how fast you find the exit, but by how thoroughly you’ve explored each turn of the maze.

  FEATURED ATTRACTIONS

School Groups and Birthday Parties Create special memories at Schwallier’s Country Basket. We can help you plan an event customized to your group’s needs. We have a large variety of activities, including wagon rides into the orchards; pick your own raspberries, apples, and pumpkins and more. The upstairs of the barn can be reserved for your party (call 616-785-9896 or email apples@schwalliers.com for rates), with picnic tables set up and available for your use. Contact us today to discuss your group needs. During the months of September and October, Schwallier’s Country Basket will open the orchard to give school groups a firsthand opportunity to visit a working family farm. Weekday apple tours are led by our knowledgeable staff members and are a great educational experience. Students will learn about the farm, pollination, growing and raising apples, harvesting apples, and other fun farm facts. Each tour includes: Educational talk on the apple cycle from pollination to harvest. Time to visit with the farm animals, including baby goats. Fun time on the slide and the straw barn. A snack time consisting of a fresh donut, apple, and a cup of cider for each student. A trip to the pumpkin patch to pick a small pumpkin. A tour of the farm market store. Play Area & Rides Our kids’ play area is a perennial hit! Children can feel on top of the world—or at least the farm—when they climb the straw mountain. The whole family can cheer on the fastest ducky in our new duck races. Children can take a ride on our cow train, or the whole family can head out to enjoy scenic views of our orchards with a guided wagon ride. There’s fun for everyone at Schwallier’s Country Basket. (Note: Cost for the cow train is $2 per seat. Cow train and wagon rides are available weekends only, weather permitting. Children’s play area is open every day that we are.) Farm Animal Barn Come pet the animals on our farm, e-i-e-i-o! The baby animals in our barn are friendly and frisky–they love to play with visitors to Schwallier’s Country Basket. Interacting with animals on our farm is a great way for children to learn. We have goats, chickens and bunnies, oh my!

  PRICES, HOURS AND DIRECTIONS

The maze is open normal business hours on Saturdays and Sundays during the month of September and October. The maze is also open on Friday afternoons during October and other times during the week only by reservation. The last ticket will be sold 1 hour before close each night. Tickets cost $6.00 per person. Is it safe? Our Maze Masters work hard to ensure our visitors’ safety. We patrol the maze, and/or work extra staff for busy days.
