View Full Version : Actor group photos
11-07-2009, 07:20 PM
I hope everyone made it through another season safe and sound. I thought I would start a thread about group photos. How many of you take group photos of your actors? I find this very hard to get everyone ready and in one spot before the show begins. There are always a bunch of good actors missing. After the show is even worse because people start blowing out of there right after we close. This photo was taken on Halloween night right before the show opened with a huge line waiting to get in. The wind was insane that day and I had to do a lot of last minute repairs. It was almost hot that night, very strange weather this year. Check out the moon and sky! I could not have asked for a more spooky Halloween night.
As soon as the last patrons were through, the sky opened up and it poured buckets. I had to make a mad dash to get all the foggers, and sound equipment in or covered.
Over all we had a great season and I'll post more photos when I get them from the photographer. For now I invite you to post your group photos on this thread. For some reason a lot of the best made up people ended up in the back where you can barely see them. I think the photo came out cool and look forward to other haunts sharing theirs on this thread.
The scarecrow on the right has a real horse skull on it and the hands are made from horse ribs.
I also thought this photo came out cool. I mounted an orange light on a tall pole to light up the corn field this year. With the fog one night it made this photo look like a sun set.

It's near impossible to get a shot of all the actors at The Darkness. Here's what I managed to take after we closed - most everyone out of costume. And this isn't even most everyone - but here is, I think, the closest anyone has to a Darkness group shot.
In the first one, I'm taking the picture. In the second one, I managed to jump in in the middle, in costume, as the deranged servant named Annabel Dawson.

Those are cool, it really gives you a sense of the energy level and good times you are having! Looking forward to more group shots or even just actor shots. They make our shows possible so it would be great to see them recognized.
Here is a good actor shot in our clown tent. He had a horn and would really startle people with it.

Well, I was fortunate enough to see Haunted Overload this year and I have to say that it has one of the best atmospheres (if not the best) of any haunt I have visited. Tons of fog and beautifully lit.
With that said, this is a great thread because it is nearly impossible to get a large group together for anything (nevermind pictures) and actors do make the haunt.
Thanks for posting!

A few from the manor...
We would love to everyones photos,
Here are some from Scream Theme Studios 2009

For those that don't know me, my camera is attached to my wrist, so I have over 200 pictures from The Darkness this year. I take pics of the actors every night I'm there. I will go through and grab the few "good" ones I happened to get here and there of actors. None are in the scenes because there is too much fog for it to work, but there are some random small group shots I've gotten in the actors' room.
I'll post them soon!
11-08-2009, 09:41 AM
This is our group at Evil Intentions. Ill post some of the actors in there rooms later when i sort through all the pictures.
The building we had was used to make caskets back in the day. The most notable caskets were John F Kennedy and Edgar Hoovers. The Chute in the background was were they slid the caskets down

At Bloodview, we do a massive group shot on Halloween night after production. It is nice to have a shot of everyone and by doing it on the last night only, it is easier to coordinate.
11-08-2009, 12:45 PM
Not a full group shot, though we did do one.. I just haven't seen it yet, but here's a fun shot from an early morning promo that we did :
11-08-2009, 01:13 PM
Here is the only group photo we took this season. Some in costume and some out and some in between...
11-08-2009, 04:12 PM
Wow all of these are great! I love seeing other haunts and their actors and the different costumes and the unique make up they come up with. I just got back from working on the take down and I'm dead tired and drained but seeing all these photos inspires me to keep going and think of new ideas for next year.
Tomorrow I will be working on sculpting skull trophies for our actor wrap party on the 14th. That's when we watch the videos and photos from this year. I wish I had more to show but I have only seen a few of them so far. Here are a few more of the actors that I have. The first one you can't see but he was on jumping stilts and the wings folded in and out. It was awesome!
Keep them coming, your actors will thank you!
All photos by Artifact Images, I can't thank them enough for the images they capture. They are the best!
Rae Enslin, she also made most of the horse. Check out the construction web site.
Dave Bruno in another costume.
Irene Lemire 1st year actor, she did awesome!

now, where's my "COLLECTOR" bobblehead from Netherworld? hope you all had a great, successful season !
11-08-2009, 05:43 PM
We have plenty of bobbleheads don't worry! I will see if I can bring a few cases to Transworld...
11-08-2009, 05:47 PM
the COLLECTOR rules !!!! thanks!

Alright here are some more. This is kind of a random mix of in costume, out of costume, going out to eat after, etc. Enjoy!
1) Group of us getting some dinner/breakfast at The Buttery - a Darkness tradition.
2) That would be Darkness actors workin' off the clock and Buttery customers we don't know. lol
3) Kip, his wife, me, and one of our section leaders.
4) A rough shot of the crowd one night...
5) Another Buttery pic.
11-08-2009, 08:03 PM
6) Halloween night - went to Uncle Bill's Pancake house instead. I think this is the largest group of Darkness actors we've gotten to go out and eat in a long time.
7) More at Uncle Bill's.
I've enjoyed seeing everyone's pics and hope to see more!! Great thread!
11-08-2009, 08:48 PM
We had a photography group show up one night to play with pictures and this is what we got. What do you think?
11-08-2009, 08:50 PM
11-08-2009, 08:51 PM
Wow! I love that!
11-08-2009, 11:43 PM
I like the candid shots. They really capture the good times you guys are having.
Those shots are awesome! Great effects, thanks for posting.
11-08-2009, 11:59 PM
Here is a shot of about, 3/4 of the Crew at Realm of Terror. This picture was taken in front of our ticket booth / facade after closing on Halloween.
11-09-2009, 12:52 AM
Most of our actors were here for this shot, hope you like!
11-09-2009, 06:17 AM
These are great! It's fun to see characters from other haunts.
I like the sepia tone shot from Deadlands. That's a neat idea to go along with your theme.
11-09-2009, 05:01 PM
11-09-2009, 05:04 PM
I agree, great photos! Scary looking characters from the Realm of Terror and I like the sepia tone photo from Dead Lands as well.
Wow I just saw these from Scare-A-Torium, awesome! Nice close up of the make up.
Keep them coming, remember the photos don't all have to be group shots. Single actor photos that showcase their costume, makeup or scare station are welcome as well. Those are some of the best because you can see much more detail.
Thanks to all that have posted so far so soon after closing. Some of you are still open. Good luck on your remaining shows. You still have time to take a group shot, lol.

This isnt the thread for that question but college first no questions asked.
Rotting Flesh Radio
11-09-2009, 05:22 PM
More awesome ones from Scare-A-Torium! I love the make up. Looks like an intense group of actors, I wish I could see the show.
Thanks for making this thread kick ass!
As for Haunted Acers, definitely go to college.
11-09-2009, 05:41 PM
I dug up 2 more. I can't wait to get the rest back from Artifact Images.
Keep them coming, it's great to showcase all of the awesome talent our actors bring to our shows.
Cassie, she has an unbelievable talent for scaring people. It's fun to watch.
Andy, made the whole costume himself and was great doing two characters this year.
11-09-2009, 09:47 PM
1) "Annabel Dawson"
2) Annabel and Isabel... with the dolly named Belle.
3) I believe the definition of best friend says: "allows friend to put noose around neck and push off platform". We actually got somebody in the crowd to shriek when that happened.
4) Close up of make-up on Halloween.
5) One of our Terror Visions clowns.
11-09-2009, 09:54 PM
6) Annabel and my friend that acts in the downstairs part of The Darkness.
7) Monsters being monsters... lol
Just gotta say it again - this was a GREAT idea for a thread!! I love seeing everyone's pics! Great way to somewhat "recap" the season.
And Acers, college first. Hands down. No questions asked. I'm about to graduate in May, and even though my major kicks my butt at times, I still love it and I have already seen how having a degree, particularly in the haunt industry, will allow you to do so much more. Plus, college is a ton of fun. Trust me. I'm sad it's ending...
11-09-2009, 11:57 PM
Here are some group shots from various scenes at the Trail of Terror in CT.
11-10-2009, 04:43 PM
These are great! I love the hanging rag doll, and really good make up. The scene from The Trail with the evil Sesame Street characters is awesome! Thanks for posting those.
11-10-2009, 06:34 PM
Here's a couple of our actors down here at Night Terrors in Jax...
11-10-2009, 09:28 PM
Awesome Jordan, those are good ones! Let's try to keep this thread going. There's a lot of good stuff on here. So much creativity in each haunt, costume and make up job. I got a few more from the photographers.
Keep them coming guys.
Emily Lock, she drove 18 hours from Indiana to participate in Haunted Overload. Now that's dedication!
Mark Sullivan, very dedicated worker both with construction and as an actor. He is great in the corn field.
Tom Milone, awesome actor, former home haunter and now Stage Manager for Haunted Overload.
Longest running volunteer except for my wife. He does a great job on the web site, Haunt construction and now as gate keeper of Haunted Overload. His make up and costume looked insane this year!
11-12-2009, 10:42 AM
Everyones pictures are great! Great topic and it is great to see all the work everyone puts into their characters..very inspirational..keep it up!
11-12-2009, 10:45 AM
Just a few more...Even though our last picture of the skeleton isn't a real actor we do love him..his name is Fatty No Bottoms.
11-13-2009, 05:05 AM
Here is ours
11-13-2009, 10:36 AM
Those are awesome Jay! Ben, that's one hell of a crew you have there! The costumes and make up are second to none. Have fun tonight and thanks for posting. Let's see some more. These are cool and I'm sure the actors get a kick out of it.
Here is one that turned out well. I picked this mask up at Transworld and Bret Linken made an awesome costume and character around it. He would squawk like a crow behind patrons. It worked like a charm.
Close up of the mask. It has been modified with paint for more contrast.
11-13-2009, 09:12 PM
Here's a few more from the Trail.
11-13-2009, 09:15 PM
LOVE the crow. I wish I had the chance to come up this year.
11-13-2009, 09:22 PM
I love those Wayne! You guys have tons of nicely detailed scenes. The actors all look like they are having a blast. When did you have time to take them? We took a lot of ours before the show started or sometimes during the show if possible.
Here is a cool looking one. The young actor, Clinton came with this gas mask. We put him in the vortex tunnel and he worked out great, popping up from the fog. People were mesmerized.
Keep them coming this is a great way to show off your actors and scenes.
Thanks for posting!
11-13-2009, 09:45 PM
Wow, Eric. That gas mask picture is incredible!!
All these pics look like everyone loves what they do! (Don't we all?)
And gees, Ben, that looks like an outstanding crew! Can't wait to go through tomorrow night!
11-16-2009, 03:11 PM
shot 1: Our resident physco
Shot 2: yup that's a real Jail Cell door, it fit loose enough for her to shake the crap out of it when people came past
Shot 3: My favorite makeup work done all year!
Shot 4: Why not add in some new horror movie stuff? Let's throw my bloody valentine in the mix! Him and Freddy Kruger were the only live people out of 5 "halloween legends" in the room. He acted like an animatronic and them came at people once they decided he was fake
Shot 5: Our resident ring master, he got the award for most dedicated this year. There were times he beat ME there!
11-16-2009, 03:23 PM
shot 6: We gave him a cleverly hidden exit door out of his "cell" and as people came around the corner to the back side of his room he would great them yet again. This particular lady laughed at him while he couldn;t get at her but the second he got out and started following her she cracked
shot 7: RUN! GET OUT! HE'S FOLLOWING US! these 2 both wet themselves, poor kids
shot 8: creepiest little girl i ever met, she sat on the floor and sang ring around the rosey like a little kid and then as people approached she got up and motioned for them to follow. She never yelled never screamed, just smiled and sang. We heard lots of talk around town about the creepy little girl at the begining
shot 9: a shot of our "halloween legends area" freddy and the my bloody valentine character were real but acted like animatronics till someone approached. Freddy got the Rookie of the Year award this year
Shot 10: This is amanda, proof that you don't need makeup, don't need a costume and don't need to scream to be in a haunted house. She sat outside one of our "escape hatches" in a dark hall and waited till cutomers came around the corner. Then she very calmly turned on her flashlight and asked if they were lost. She had at least 3 people wet themselves...
If i can get my CD to work I will upload a full group shot. As of right now it is not available though. Sad day!
11-16-2009, 04:37 PM
spookologist the photos you posted I love the one that reminds me of Malice in Horrorland.
11-17-2009, 02:20 AM
Here are a few pictures of the actors from the Forest of Fright. It is very hard to get everyone in a group picture, so we decided to do them individually.
11-17-2009, 02:25 AM
Here are a few more from the Forest of Fright!
11-18-2009, 06:10 PM
These are all great! Thanks for keeping the thread alive. You can really tell the actors in those shots are getting into their roles. Here are a few more, keep them coming. I can never get sick of cool photos of haunted house actors doing their stuff.
Ryan Compagna, he has been a chainsaw guy for years starting at the home haunt.
My good friends Rich and Gilda. She is a real dentist, check out the authentic equipment.
Carol, an awesome guest actor
That's me in my chainsaw garb. You can see the welded on chain with the blades ground off. It freaks people out. Also holes drilled in the muffler to be extra loud.
11-20-2009, 01:35 PM
Here are a couple of new characters from the Haunt House (2009):
11-20-2009, 04:36 PM
You guys all some killer actor photos! Nice work everyone.
Here is a group shot of some of the cast members from Bloodmare Manor.
Some of the clown crew from Psycho Circus in 3-D
And finally here are some of our bloodsuckers from Vampire Castle.
11-20-2009, 05:45 PM
Not a group photo but heres me out front of WareHouse 31 by the ticket booth with Abby my hearse.
11-21-2009, 07:49 AM
Michael, Tim and Something in the Ice,
Great photos, thanks for posting! I like the lighting on the Ring master. Tim, that vampire shot is awesome, one of my favorites so far!
Looking forward to more photos of actors. Either group or close up.
Here's a scarecrow from the scarecrow section.
One of my favorite shots of the witch Ambergris
11-22-2009, 03:18 PM
Here are some of the pics I took. I didn't have time to take any during operation so I made my younger brother dress up in the costumes for these, lol. It was our first year doing a walkthrough, and I would have to say for a home haunt.. we pulled it off pretty well. The first was taken in our body bag hallway and the next three were taken in a bathroom scene. I'll post some more later.

Wow, I thought this thread was as dead as a doornail! Thanks for starting it up again Tattoo. Both you and Fright Kingdom have some awesome make up jobs going on, thanks for posting! This makes 3 in a row from New Hampshire. Keep them coming!
12-07-2009, 12:17 PM
Nice pics, I had to go back into my pics again, they fell out? There are some others that need to do the same. Not sure way it happened.
12-07-2009, 01:09 PM
I was noticing that. At first I thought it was my computer but it may have had something to do with the forum change over to another server, just guessing. It's great to see everyone's photos. We should try to keep it going.
12-07-2009, 08:27 PM
Here's some more of our ghouls at the front gate.
12-07-2009, 08:31 PM
Good one Wayne!
12-07-2009, 09:13 PM
Nice pics, I had to go back into my pics again, they fell out? There are some others that need to do the same. Not sure way it happened.
Fixed mine, I was wondering what happened. Eric the cornfield picture with your false sunset is unreal...amazing use of a flood light!
12-07-2009, 10:03 PM
It only looked like that in the right conditions, tons of fog and a calm night. Deep orange gel was used around the light, it looked cool!
Here are a few more to keep this thread going. I know there must be tons of photos out there we haven't seen of actors yet.
