I installed one of these tracks into a dark section of a haunt last year using a $200 dvd player/surround sound system. It was super creepy as the sound and creatures jump to different parts of the room. Very awesome Virgil.

Gadget incorporated Virgil's 5.1 sounds into our Carriage House attraction in a blackout area and let me tell you... it's CREEPY! The music and the whispers seem to move around you. It's freakin AWESOME!

Ha! Gadget, I just realized you made the last post and were probably referring to our haunt! LOL

Thanks for the kudos gents!

Samples are going up tonight. They are in stereo so, while they're
still pretty cool, you don't get the 5.1 experience.

The tracks will also be available in stereo mp3 soon as well...

Samples are up for our 4D Horrorscapes!!

All samples are in stereo .

Downloads will be in AC3 5.1 surround.

I am doing custom surround sound tracks for haunts as well.

The individual tracks have the samples up.

hmm still not seeing it...when i go to the individual tracks...is it supposed to be under preview? maybe i just dont see it cuz im on my mac?

They look like embedded Windows Media Player's so it could be an issue with you having a mac?

05-07-2010, 10:33 AM
yupp that would be it! lol thanks man!

Yes indeed. My web guy told me that, unfortunately, the
only player we have access to right now is not Mac friendly.

I'll be working on an alternate player for our Mac friends.

You could also use a simple flash player like: http://flash-mp3-player.net/

That way it will work with PC or mac...

Flash player is up on the 4D Horrorscapes Complete page!

These sound really cool. Last year I used three 5.1 setups running off a few laptops running AC3 Filter which encoded it to dolby Pro Logic on the stereo outputs. I originally mixed my own sounds using Soft Encode 5.1, but I think I may try I few of these this year.

Thanks virgil!!

You're quite welcome!

Thanks for pointing out the problem.

We're going to do everything in flash on the next rebuild.

Scareside, thanks for the kudos...

5.1 is awesome...I'm glad to hear of your success!!

Perhaps we should chat! :)

Thank you, and the files I purchased from the site sound amazing on my 5.1 setup. However to use them in my house I had to re-encode the files to a Dolby Pro-Logic stereo .wav file to use with my repeaters. The surround still works after the encoding but now I can use regular playback units instead of a computer or dvd player.

One thing you could do is possibly provide a stereo .wav file with pro logic encoding for those who want to use just regular audio repeaters. Just a thought.

Also one more thing, for those who want to use these files with a regular 5.1 receiver, but also want to use a computer for playback, here is how.

Step 1: Download AC3Filter
Step 2: Go to AC3Filter Config in the program folder, and under the main tab, select Dolby Pro Logic II as the output format.
Step 3: Under the system tab, select to "Prefer AC3Filter"
Step 4: Open your AC3 file with windows media player, and boom, you are now outputting Dolby Pro-Logic II to your surround receiver using the stereo out on your computer.

Hope this work, if not, just play with the AC3Filter settings till it does.

Would I be able to use the 5.1 Storm tracks with a Lights-Alive Firefly 501 thunder and lightning controller on the two stereo channels?

I noticed they indicated the units come with an audio cd from Virgil.. so thought you might be able to answer the question.

In theory you could down-mix the 5.1 to stereo, or use a dvd player to play the audio, and just grab the stereo audio out from the 5.1 receiver.
