Looks great, I can really tell alot of thought went into this. The horn placement is just right to allow him to be used as an Icon, standard placement would have made him appear devil like, great job.
Alone the horns would be comical, but with the face sculpt it balances out and makes a creepy character, again, looks awesome.
Always impressive.

One word: Insane

07-14-2010, 11:05 AM
That is awesome! Is it all foam latex?

07-14-2010, 11:32 AM
Wow just Wow, How long does it take to get into that costume?

07-14-2010, 08:15 PM
This thing is amazing! The best thing about Ben and the crew around him is they are never satisfied to rest on their laurels and strive to get better each and every year. This is my favorite costume from them to date and I loved the vampire last year.

Awesome job as usual, thanks for the inspiration, hope I could make it down someday.

awesome work and great detail.

Ben, totally awesome!!! Great design!. Now will you still be needing that swamp creature mask? I could take that off of your hands.

07-15-2010, 08:58 PM
Wow! Thanks for all the kind words! I am not the artist here just the guy with the goofy grin and the cool contacts. The costume was created by Bill Johnson, who is right now very busy working on THE WALKING DEAD by AMC with the KNB effects crew and many of our actors and staff. Other interesting trivia, the throne was from WCW Halloween Havoc many years ago, we picked it up from TBS and fixed it up a bit.

The costume is latex and foam, the mask being foam like many our older Icons like the Collector and the Harvestman. In recent years we have done many of our icons in Silicone, but we thought foam would be better for this application, and man it is not as hot that is for sure!
Our Downstairs character is silicone and will have a costume of rotocast plastic, pretty cool and unusual, as will another of our upstairs creatures, the Infernal Contraption.

We should have quite an army of new fiends this year, and a ton of other crazy suprises. Of course we are in the middle of everything, but when I get some finished stuff to show we will roll it out here.

WOW!!! Can't wait to see more Ben! You definitely have one hellaciously talented team at Netherworld!

Here are a few more fun pictures...

This is the heart room where the walls would reach out to engulf you...

07-21-2010, 06:15 AM
This is the Arch Maze, one of our Mirror scenes. We have expanded the effect quite a bit from last year, but this is a shot from last season...

07-21-2010, 06:21 AM
This is our Spider Cave.. The Custom Spider is big, I think his abdomen is about a 3 foot width. This is getting an extensive enhancement..

07-21-2010, 06:26 AM
This was a Battle Scene last year between our T-Rex and our Mega Mouth Puppet. You would walk between them. This scene is totally gone, the creatures have been put into new homes. the SF T-Rex had been extremely modififed motion wise and will come out from a very (hopefully) effective and unexpeceted area to scare folks.

That gargoyle is downright terrifying! Amazing stuff!

Love those room designs, too - that heart room looks like it's definitely something to be experienced!

I know the spider room FREAKED out one of our people last year. Your haunts were AMAZING!!! Many elements inspired us for this season!!! Netherworld definitely is an industry standard/trend setter!!!!!

I rolled this guy up the hill from the shop today, he just got a fresh paint job. This is a Moby from Scareparts, the prototype actually as it was custom for us before it was put into production. A medium sized prop that plays BIG. I guess he is a collectors item now. Gotta love that Pale Night Blood!

These are some shots of our redo of the bugsy Janitor we got from Larry at Transworld. Of course we saved the bug head for another day!

We have many kinds of Gargoyles planned for this years show. Here is a production shot of our custom redos of Scarefactory Creepers as Gargoyles.

Absolutely breath taking! the mirror hall has always been one of my favorites. what is the heart wall made out of? silicone? latex? it looks heavy! but really grossly organic.

10-19-2010, 12:18 AM
I think were coming to see you OCT 30th!
It's a surprise!

10-20-2010, 06:28 AM
That heart wall was a pretty cool effect in person. I didn't expect it to inflate.

I wasn't expecting it to inflate either!! Ask anyone from our group who went...I flipped shit when it began inflating and I couldn't see my feet. Haha...DEFINITELY a cool effect.
