Being in the woods alone at night scares the snot out of me!

Thats why every June i pack a 120 pound pack into my canoe and venture miles into the woods for a week alone, face the fear!!!

What you will find out is Bambi isn't as badd a$$ as you think he is!!LOL

03-14-2007, 10:17 PM
uhhh the only thing that makes me uncomfortable is pitch black. I hate not knowing what is 1 inch from me. The only fear I must have are tornados. Must have some fear of those things as I dream about being in one about once a month.....

Small children in horror movies freak me out

Those common, lowly, villagers scare me (and Franky!)
I guess it could also be called mob mentality, so I guess I'm afraid of committees too,... parole boards,.....when there is more than two psychiatrists in the room.....

A serious faced doctor coming to see me after a check-up and saying, "I'm afraid I have some bad news..."

Roller coasters. *shiver*

Of course, that's mostly because I suffer from Vertigo. All high places make me a little dizzy. I enjoy the 'speed coasters' - the smaller ones with lots of twists and turns, but I hate the super tall ones. I like the 'thrill' of the motion, but heights make me puke. Not fun.

What scares me!
Just the thought of it!
My mother-in-law coming to live with us.....

Besides Mr. Tuxedo (I never did trust him) it would have to be needles. The scene in Saw II about drove me out of the room...

For me anything that is a religious horror take off.

Must be my beliefs or something but things like being possessed, etc. always make me feel uneasy.

03-15-2007, 07:55 AM
I loved the mother in law coming to live with us! Thats funny!! For me, as my other posts have said,,,,Reagan from The Exorcist. I can't begin to tell you how much she creeps me out. But, a huge fear of mine is.......THE...DENTIST!! I hate going! I had so much work done, but still I get sooooo afraid! My general dentist now gives my a pill, to calm me down before my apt. (It does not work, I still feel like I'm gonna throw up the entire time). So I can't help but wonder,,,how the **** I can go to work every day, since my day job is working for a dentist as a Dental Assistant!

Wipp, I love the new pic you have

03-15-2007, 10:15 AM
Iím with Jim on the mob mentality thing. Any situation in which free will is turned over or taken over by Ďgroup thinkí scares me. Within the genre that usually translates into zombies or cyborgs like the Borg in Star Trek.
Iím currently reading Stephen Kingís ďCellĒ, and Iím quickly developing a fear of cell phones. Iím pretty positive we are all just one ringtone away from the apocalypse.

The big "dealer" in creating fear , Stevie King was once thought to be or surmised to be afraid of virtually everything in life. This is how he can write books making seemingly harmelss things become deadly and threatening.
A gain alot of "points" with customers coming through the Ravens Grin because of the unpredictability and oddness of my show as compared to what they might have come here expecting it to be, as compared to their previous experiences.
I guess that would qualify as fear of the unknown.
If you have been reading things on-line that I have been saying for years, then if you come here it might be fear of the known!

Wow! Lots to be afraid of. Also Im glad Im not the only one who finds BK dude disturbing. Yea, wipp, thanks for the new pic, almost ran away from my computer cause he was on my screen. lol Thanks for that.

That's creepy, Ron, I have fairly frequent tornado dreams, too.

Other than tornados, I'm not fond of sharks. I think I watched JAWS when I was younger and it scarred me for life. LOL. Looking at some of Dan Faupel's prop-work gives me the willies. Very realistic.

03-15-2007, 04:03 PM
hmm...how about being tied down and haveing a crazed maniac torture you...the fear of death is much worse than death itself in my eyes...the fact that something like saw, or hostile could potentially happen scares me...i could go on and on about creative ways to blind and cripple people with all sorts of demented tools...but i think that is for another post all together...lol

Needles, Dolls, Bees (little flying attack needles) and Clowns...in that order

Oh, Joel!
It just so happens our haunt this season has the needles (LOTS of 'em!), Dolls and of course, the clowns.

Maybe we'll get you to at least flinch this year!

03-15-2007, 04:31 PM
I just keep thinking about a new 'room' idea. I got to play with some of those night vision glasses... they ROCK! A pair of those would be the only expence involved.

One pair Night vision glasses
One sound track of bugs buzzing
One 2-3 foot long pheasent feather
One dark maze

Put one person in the dark wearing the glasses. Give them the feather. Let them 'tickle' the guests in the dark around the neck, ear & cheek. The longer the feather, the safer the worker will be. He will NOT want to be within the strike zone.

Jim Warfield
03-15-2007, 04:36 PM
I had customers doing this "feather-Thing" to other customers during the tour.
Of course I didn't know it at the time.
The feather users were some very local artists(like 100 feet away from my place) who have been through the house numerous times.
It was funny in a dark room, nobody could figure it out because the two artists would pass the feather back and forth and keep it hidden when the lights were on.
It made for a "ghostly" touch.

Although I try to live each day to its full value...and have many times lived it toooo much. I feel that the only thing that scares me is not being able to really control the length of my own life span given all the real situations in the world. I see so many things I have not yet tried to do and want to do...
Do this make sense to anyone else????
Success, failure, bugs, bats, snakes, heigth, pins, needles, blood, been there and can control that.... not sure about Mr Tuxedo but I do like all types of kitty's if that counts....LOL

Making props and costumes for a living.
I guess I am in some serious %#^%

Jim Warfield
03-17-2007, 08:23 AM
Making those costumes and props is still easier than stealing like items from undergound by the light of the moon, isn't it?
Shovels get dulled and you can't see it happening in the dark, which makes more effort necesarry.

OK I will top everyones.....

I have a 16 y/o Daughter

She is now on a prepay plan..

The thread was about what scares you not what everyday life does to frighten us. Yes I can top your situation....My 18 year old daughter is going to college at Bowling Green University starting next quarter....a really REALLY BIG OUCH!!!!! But have faith ..your little sunshine will be heading in that direction in about 2 years and then the phone bill will only be the beginning - LOL!!!!!
Who said I was really "Crazy" Bob Turner -soon to have a little one out of the nest....

03-17-2007, 12:47 PM
My brother-in-law and his wife went to Bowling Green...now live in Chicago...they are math profs now in Grayslake...
Anyways, my biggest fears are maybe strange...I went to college at Edinboro, Pa and hate tests or turning in homework/projects...to this day I still dream sometimes I'm in class and don't have my stuff or didn't study...
Funny thing is I rarely ever studied in high school or college and got my degree! 7 years later and still have nightmares about it!!!
Sometimes I dream I'm lost or not in control of the situation...maybe in a "Hostel" situation and think "this is it...the end!?!" Those things scare me...and spiders!

Ron and SPFX chic you guys are not weird im in the same boat with the tornado dreams as well as my 13 year old daughter,we all suffer!

My last dream was about as weird as it gets,me in an old pickup truck driving down a dirt road with a guy in the passenger seat who i have no idea who he is screaming punch it man!

Tornado in the rearveiw mirror catching up to us and iv'e got the gas pedal half way through the floorboard but can't get Bessie to go any faster!

Dream ends when it picks us up!

I took a Dream class years ago and as part of the class we kept notebooks,if you had a dream you were to write it down and share with the class,Many had tornado dreams!!

Dreams are basicly little bits and peices of what you think about when asleep your mind subconciously twines thoughts together even if they arent relative to each other thats why dreams are so strange sometimes and often do not make sense.

Suppossedly you don't dream in color and sound from what the experts say but i find this untrue. Although a dream won't have a lot of dialogue you will get a one liner from somebody and yes i have witnessed colors as well. Reds and Yellows are more frequent than darker hues as darker colors mix in with the greys of the dreams. I hadn't ever thought about this until that class then after writing down my dreams it became more apparent to me.

If your having tornado dreams it meens one of two things you either love them and are intrigued by them or your terrified of them. Either way the thought of them is so profound your mind etches them in and you dream it.

P.S. you can't outrun a tornado, dream or not your screwed!

To everybody thats afraid of spiders and snakes i used to be too, We had a reptile company in the midway of our haunt for a few years and little by little i handled reptiles each season getting bigger and bigger with the snakes until i overcame my fears. I now own many reptiles and live in the room next to my bedroom, this is a fear you can get over,go to the pet store or a reptile exchange more often.

And Joe dog you bet i know you can text a couple thousand times a month at 10 cents a pop, my daughter showed me how it's done too!
Neat trick huh!

Whats really neat about it is not only does the bill go up but the grades somehow mysteriously go down. Seems they werent allowed to talk in class but they found away around that!

Funny how they just assume Mom and Dad have all this extra cash laying around to pay the bill,we all went without phones for a month until we got it caught up. But hey 800 dollars i just don't have in my sock drawer!

And yes she had to get her own prepaid phone and now she never uses it because she knows how fast the minutes dissapear!

For people with kids about to hit the cell phone stage, you can call the company and have this feature excluded from their number, i HIGHLY suggest it.

Jim Warfield
03-18-2007, 01:36 PM
Things had to be so much cheaper when I was a kid.
Cell phones?
How about the tin cans with the string pulled tight between them?
"Now can you hear me?"
"Pull the string tighter!"
"Now I can hear you!"
Not even .08cents, in " 2007 money"!

The sound of Bees, not afraid of getting stung, just the noise a bee makes or many bees make.

Jim Warfield

That bee-buzzing sound is alot like a rattlesnake's tail too!
He will "Sting" you good!

that reminded me of the time i had a mexican guy working for me.He was in ladys backyard workin on somethin.Next thing you know i see a 200 lb mexican runnin towards me with a serious look on his face.Wile he was running past me i saw a bee flying straight behind him, going the same speed. He ran halfway down the street before that bee gave up

Jim Warfield
03-21-2007, 03:10 PM
Which reminds me of my ex running down a white coffin-shaped hallway with a black bat slowly flapping it's wings, moving the same speed as she was, right behind her head, the bat's wingtips almost touched the sides it seemed, slow, rhythmic, beautifuLLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!

03-21-2007, 03:42 PM
I can feel for her. There are many things that only scare me if they TOUCH me... One evening, I was washing the dishes while my husband spoke to his friend on the phone. I reached into the drawer for a drying towel and a field mouse ran across my fingers. I let out a shreik that the friend on the phone could hear. He even said "THAT was a Mouse scream!" I thought my husband would laugh himself to death when he came running in to find out that I had indeed been scared by a tiny rodent.

taking a crap in a public restroom(I hope I'm not alone on this one).

Oh, and spiders too.

03-23-2007, 11:24 PM
This is not a joke, and I'm not trying to be funny. I'm afraid of going into public bathrooms alone. I'm not afraid of the school bathrooms though. I'm always afraid there will be some freak in there hiding in the stall or that the guy next to me will pull a knife. It freaks the crap outta me. Sometimes when I'm washing my hands and there's someone next to me, we make eye contact through the mirrior and it scares me even worse.

These last few posts reminded me of somethings. Jim I remember or I seem to remember when we came to your haunt on Memorial Weekend 4 or 5 years ago. I cant remember which. You either had the sound of bee's or real wasps were flying in the highest part of your house? I cant really remember. But I know it was unexpected and a bit scary at the time. I hope you only let the real wasp's out of the jar for haunters only! Also I've never been scared of bats but one warm October night 3 seasons ago I get home after one and closing the haunt and theres a bat in our house. Okay no problem I just call Sher-re she's at work and I tell her, You may not wanna come home tonight. She says why? I say theres a bat in our house! She doesnt beleive and Im like ya theres a friggin bat in our house. So I tell the kids to stay outside on the porch. So here I am tryin to swat this bat with a broom looking like Chris Farley in Black Sheep! I cant hit this thing if it was as broad as a barn. And in the house his wingspan looked almost as wide. It had at least a 3ft wingspan! Anyway it lands on the wall up by the ceiling. I knock it down with a broom and throw a blanket over it and throw it and the blanket out the front door. Kinda creepy to experience that! Oh and ya public bathrooms are gross and I try to touch everything with a towel on the way out the door. Always use the toilet paper gaskets if there available!

Jim Warfield
03-24-2007, 11:35 PM
So how often do you blow a gasket?
Too much compression? Too much high octane?
Did you take a putty knife and scrape away all of the old gasket before you put down your new one?
Did you scrape both surfaces? I know it can hurt, you have to do it!
I don't care what the self-proclaimed "experts" say. Putty knives will NEVER replace toilet paper!
It might work if you re-shaped your rear by sitting for many hours at the lowest point of a flat-bottomed boat?
Many gaskets like flat surfaces.

I don't like huge massive creatures like willy mamoths or whales. They freak me out!!

Jim Warfield
03-30-2007, 06:24 PM
Now that you broght it up, there were two times I was standing beside large rusty steel tanks and I felt some unnamed fear?
Maybe it was an archetypal image of something my pre-historic ancestors were endangered by? (Large animal? Hippo? Dino?)
Or maybe I was afraid the big, rusty tank would suddenly burst and drown me standing next to it?
I'm referring to tanks 60 feet long by 12 foot high in a room not much bigger than the tank!
