This is another one of those ridiculous ideas that I am sure will never work but if someone out there has the recourses and time here's to ya.

Here in Oklahoma, we built a snake room. This room had plexiglass floor with moving snakes underneath and creepiness all around. I though it would be cool to see a live snake via hologram generator. If you could make one big enough, the generator could be under the floor where guests walk. What they would see is a real snake hologram at actual size. Naturally there would be a plexiglass cover. Guests would be forced to walk towards a real snake on the floor. They would walk through a hologram.

I jist saw one of these at a hobby shop in Indianapolis a few weeks back. The illusion is very convincing, but it was a small toy like the example that you postd. The illusion was only like fifteen dollars at the hobby shop.

I'd love to see one build an agrand scale, or even one the size to crate a human head. They effect of the small one is bewildering to the mind, to say the least.

I've thought about this before as well. I even wondered about using old satellite dishes but didn't really know how to get a good optical mirror surface onto them.

I had an idea this morning about this mirror. If someone could build a giant concave structure, call it a "dish", and maybe cut it into sections. This would make it possible to have dipped into chrome and then assembled for use. Sure there would be lines, but would that matter? If the dish is constructed accurately enough the reflections should still work.
For experimental reasons, take a black marker to the original toy (above) and draw lines inside it to see how it would react to holographic image.
For research on dipping in chrome just google "chrome dipping" in your area. Whomever you find should be able to help with pollishing and plating as well. If anyone does this please keep us informed.:p

Most chrome tanks are relatively small, I think big sattelite dishes that are covered in mylar would work and be more cost effective.

I would steer clear of any university tech for a few years, there is no way its cost effective at this point, and they largely dont share tech.

I fist saw these in action last year at Netherworld. They inspired me to create a scene for Ben (who said he liked the idea). Here at the Hex House we will be buying a few for this season.
But, I feel that if someone can build the mirror, they should and post the results here.:)

It would be pretty neat to see, would have to be bulky for a life size snake, but it has potential. Ive never used the projectors, I only knew they existed. I hope you or someone figures out that idea you started on here! It'd be neat to see. :)

There is a 25" concave mirror up on ebay. I have to wonder if any of the companies that make the large convex mirrors for watching shoplifters would be able to do this on a large scale for a decent price.
