Was posting ont the air cannon thread on the Fright Forum and made a comment on just buying a plasma cutter cheap and how I now have to "create" uses for this new tool!! First project is to cut all the bases for my cemetary fencing. They are 1 ft square flat plate with a center post. Cutting a notch out of each base will allow me to stack them in a fraction of the space. Trying to cut them any other way would have been costly and time consuming. Also thought I could cut custom brackets that again would be difficult any other method.

So my creative haunters what cool projects have YOU been able to do or want to do with a plasma cutter????

http://www.hauntworld.com/haunted_house_forums/showthread.php?9486-Legends-of-the-Fog-Facade-build-Part-1&highlight=legends+facade We had the choice between a grinder, hot wrench, or plasma cutter... the plasma was the obvious choice. A friend of mine had the cutter... and it only cost me a case of beer.

Thanks Legends,

That turned out awesome. I just built a large sign out of wood. It had to be 3/4 in for strenght, but had I had the cutter, a metal sign would have been a smarter choice. Less weight, greater strength.

Besides signs, anyone have a project they used a cutter on, or have an idea of projects that can be done?
I think this kind of tool is one that as you use it and become proficient, you start using it for everything!!

I remember when I first started, I built everything out of wood!! (former Home Haunter)
A friend said that I NEEDED to learn to weld and built everything out of metal. Boy was he right!!

You built something for a home haunt it only has to work maybe a couple hundred times. When you use that same prop
in a pro haunt, it has to cycle several THOUSAND times!! SO unless you want to stay busy rebuilding everything several time a season,
you start building things to LAST!! I build almost EVERYTHING out of metal.

So any ideas on cool creative projects? Just trying to make sure I can "justify" this purchase to the "Boss"!!!

I know you probably don't want to hear more about signage... but you can do a lot with making your own custom signage. You can do knock-out-letters and back light them (cut out the letters with the plasma) and use any type of automated lighting to make a great impact. Plasmas are effortless for this type of work.
I believe the most common uses for plasma cutters are for servicemen in HVAC and plumbing. Plasmas make a great cut. I would compare the purchase of a plasma cutter to that of an airbrush... it can be an awesome tool, but only if you have both the need and the know-how to use it. Good luck!

Now you can make a Quick Sand display on a parking lot. Metal coffins, metal boats, cars, motorcycles, refrigerators, cut off at weird angles to look like they are sinking into the ground. You have to put a sign that says quick sand.

Now you can make access panels otherwise unexpected in all of the above.

You can make it look like some creature has acid burn capabilities on some used metal siding.

Things that are huge like metal tanks can now be sectioned to be able to move them easier and put them back together on location.

Also tools make other tools.

One of the better uses in my opinion is the custom mechanisms for animations and basic set movers. Some of the "designs" are
