with Walt Disney and over exposed on my mind
and too much mountain dew to get to sleep
I thought i might inspire with a Haunted Hooch thread
or at least show off a little of our swagger

this is something we did way back and is a HH classic now...
i could see it fit nicely into a place like haunted overload
or maybe your haunted house
this is a 200 year old oak tree that we dressed up a lil
an actor with cables made his eye lids blink and his mouth move
and armed with a mic heckled patrons as they passed
with material like get off my nuts etc etc...ahhh good times

03-23-2012, 07:11 AM
Do you have video of the tree in action?

03-23-2012, 08:51 AM
I think it would be cool if all the haunts could find their 1980s, 1990's and to present photos and post them.

Lets see how they transform over decades

03-23-2012, 10:07 AM
That'd be killer Larry! I wished my hard drive didn't crash, I'd show a nice range of my parties :(

They weren't no "Darkness" sets by no means, but man you can sure tell a difference. They started looking nice for a party in the end. Too bad I quit a few years ago.

Ohh btw: Love the tree :D I lol'd about the "nuts"

03-24-2012, 12:05 PM
the year was 1990 and we were in the concert business as was Dave Faukman..
thats right i am about to show off preScarefactory and all the spin offs that followed

anyways it was a guillotine were the head once again heckled the crowd before and after the decapitation
the eyes and mouth both moved with air and the valves were hand controlled so the guy running the mic could say anything he wanted and keep the mouth in time...
just a steal frame head with actuators a mask and Velcro... the guillotine was enormous and made just the same way we do it today..all 100 year old oak and a stainless blade..
the head once cut off hung from 550 cord and swung towards the crowd..
everyone thought it was great. now its like a trophy in my office

03-24-2012, 12:11 PM
heres a closer look showing some of the Velcro and dentures for teeth..

03-24-2012, 12:20 PM
i think this guy (slim pickens)came next.. actually not but i cant find a pic of the one before him named maggy otts..
which we used a spring instead of a pneumatic. and he fly up super fast..
soo they laid on the ground infront of a tombstone that said maggy otts
and were covered with wet rice...soo when they flew up it thew wet sticky rice on the patrons...
which looked like maggots... definitely the good old days

03-25-2012, 10:05 PM
Jake all i could find is vid of walking right past it..
i cant find any of it in action
i'm sure its out there somewhere
i'll keep looking because its hilarious

Larry i agree and plan too

Frightener i know right..
and its just one after another joke like like that....

sooo heres something interesting about the last pic..
on the left is a horse head skull that we glued big sharp teeth
and spikes on his nose...and all down his back
what you cant see is
he is a total prehistoric looking skeleton wired together..
when the crowd approached an actor would rattle the bones to kick off the show
and when people looked at the skeleton..
maggy otts would fly up..
throwing wet rice
then the actor fly's up from right behind them
man it takes me back...

03-25-2012, 11:23 PM
Ahh yes...The Tree...then the head...and If i remember right Tim, there was a Deers head that did the same thing in later years...however, each one of those has called me Gillian and Don Knotts....was a good time indeed

03-26-2012, 03:23 PM
yes yes the talking deer head was hilarious too

a steel frame with a tanned deer hide n glass eyes ..
it was a hand puppet with your actor behind the wall
on the mic with one liners like u want some deer meat ??

03-27-2012, 09:40 AM
thinking of the old days n Kevin Averys comment on quality and feeling like a douche
reminds me of yucky man
we made him in the shop
and a friends 6 year old was there
and i scared him with it
he cried and i loved that kid
and he would never come in my shop any more
and i felt like a douche
poor kid

he operated with a wiper motor and was crawling out of a grave..
shoulders n arms n hands movin back in forth
we have changed some motors btw
he still operates today .... 18 years later

03-27-2012, 04:31 PM
closer look at yucky man...actually a truck driver who worked with the driver of our race car

http://i102.photobucket.com/albums/m88/deadacres/yuckyman.jpg[/IMG] ]

03-27-2012, 04:43 PM
and one of the cars we sponsor..
dead acres on the front..live to die on the hood and Haunted Hoochie on the door
full throttle Hoochie style
u know how we do

Seeing these great pictures of yester years makes me want to pull out some old photos and post them.
But that would require some investment of time since I have loads of old photos. I would love to do this, and you know what. I will.
this is going to have to happen when I have some free time.
keep posting the pics. I am lovin it.

03-27-2012, 05:30 PM
Yeah they're really cool, i'd love to see more! Kevin, yours too!! I think anyone who has any photos from these kinds of years should post them, hell, I wasn't even born! haha. It's really cool to see how far things have come!

03-28-2012, 09:28 PM
glad you like them..
i have partners that have been upset when they go to the show and see their idea redone ..or done or whatever
but the fact is we are all inspired by everything we see and experience and
these inspirations are what takes all of us from where we are to where we are going...
soo just passing sum of it around

you cant think of the old hooch without thinking of the flying chainsaw
this guy flew over the heads of thousands of unsuspecting hoochie heads back in the day
waiting til the last second to start his saw n rev right over them...

One of my favorite memories is having the chainsaw maniac flying overhead. I've never seen it anywhere else. I've been going to Haunted Hoochie since 2001. Whenever I hear the song "Down With The Sickness", I think of Haunted Hoochie. Who can forget the fire breathing dragon, fire breathing demons, the massive skulls that would hit the fence, the animated hangman or the massive skeleton puppet that emerged from the woods?

03-29-2012, 07:20 AM
Headless Horseman hayride in NY does a flying chainsaw skit.

03-29-2012, 07:43 AM
Hoochie is one of a kind...

I remember blasting a chunk out of the bottom of my foot when taking hits off my Mini Tesla coil there and grounding out on a steel lean plate. One of the actors took a blast to the head! I shut it off after that! It was at a Midwest maybe 6 or so years ago?

Fun times!

03-29-2012, 11:27 AM
I think I remember that Ben...was it at that party?

That made me laugh and cringe at the same time lol, I needed that! Although I really shouldn't be on here, I have a 6 page essay due in an hour and I started it 20 minutes ago....but this, this was needed. =)

03-29-2012, 03:06 PM
I did have a coil at that party at midwest I think that was a year or two later, I was dressed as Frankenstein. That was when my son popped off the coil when my back was turned and it arced to my metal chains in the costume - It caught my burlap vest on fire! People put it out in seconds and I was all ...What happened?

I never have a problem with my electrical show equipment ( Been demoing it for years..) until I get to Ohio....

Maybe it needs to stay home!

03-30-2012, 08:18 AM
DA ...The flying chainsaw was a staple at the hooch since the very beginning
when did headless start doin it ?

Noah...you are da man.. I know right
we were kickin ass and taking names in the 90s.
Im glad you made it out back in the woods
we are currently toying with the idea of reopening it
an end of the world party for all those who never got to see the all original haunted hoochie
with all the classics

Ben...You sir are one of a kind..
that was a great night ..
Ohio is chocked full of paranormal activity
maybe pack a ground rod for the next trip

03-30-2012, 08:23 AM
did someone say fire ?
pyro is something we did alot of right from the start
here is a pic from the original hell in 1990

03-31-2012, 07:46 AM
i have video of building hack and this fire breathin dragon
i think we did the build on this in 96 a year after our 40 foot tall mega animation

03-31-2012, 07:51 AM
DA ...The flying chainsaw was a staple at the hooch since the very beginning
when did headless start doing it?

Badass, I'm not sure but I saw it on TV this past Halloween, maybe the Weather Channel show.

03-31-2012, 09:15 AM
DA...there is no shortage of the influence we have had on this industry..
does anybody know if there was any big animation companies before scarefactory ?
I remember back when Dave Faulkman was contracted to operate a haunt for clear channel here in Columbus in maybe 94 or 5
He came thru and was blown away...and he was da biggest man in the concert scene i know...
...i was honored he even knew my name...
he sold promowest to Jules Belkin and he rolled all his profits into scarefactory and started selling to haunts the next year or so...
we have been friends ever since
at least to my knowledge the stuff we were doing back then hadn't been done before

04-01-2012, 08:55 AM
more fire...
all hail Satan ...joke not wanting to get into religion here..haha
for all those that think Gods inspiration said to add more maggots to the zombies...
just a fyi we give a fortune to many different charities...
and i don't worship Satan
I merely operate a kick ass haunted house

his head moves back in fourth n up n down
he came later maybe 98 or so
he was most awesome sitting on top of the haunt over looking the crowd
and since we built dead acres
that is still what he does today

and while we r talking fire..
its maybe important to point out..
that our fire inspector literally lived at the hooch back then
soo don't try this at home

04-01-2012, 02:33 PM

Looking at all these photos bring back memories...and it makes me say DO IT....BRING BACK THE HOOCH, without a doubt....even with that dreaded blackout maze and the secret push to exit mattress

04-01-2012, 09:27 PM
your only as strong as your team
and i must point out that all of the monsters that we created in the 90s
one of my best friends Dave (Crow)Basham was the lead artist..
netherworld now has 2 of his creations also

here is another one

i am glad everyone likes our pics from the early days
many more on deck
this is my passion and i was a lucky kid
to grow up in this business...
my grandfather had been doing a haunted hayride here on our farm since the fifties
but ended when i was in eighth grade...
but i already had it in my blood

my friends and i never stopped talking about running a haunt ....
when i was 20 i bought the farm and started living my childhood dream..

and now members on council had been here getting scared as kids...

the truth is we just have a blast out here
and it shows...

we always had rock n roll bands playing and this guy sat on top of the stage

04-04-2012, 07:28 AM
another gargoyle we made that sat atop of the stage...
goin thru pics for this
really takes me back:D:D:D
like its the 90s all over again....
sorry this pic suks but with my work load i'm done looking for a good one this morning
both of these guys are maybe 7 foot tall

04-05-2012, 07:33 AM
wow how the times have changed
my grandfather gave me my first shot gun on my 9th birthday
i started paying on my first truck at 13
i used wake up and run trap line at 4 am
come home n milk cows
then take a shower
eat breakfast then go to school....
once at 14 i got pulled over by the county sheriff ...alone..
i even had a gun but he let me go with a warning
the next morning he saw me again and he waved as he drove by...
all the boys in high school had a gun in the gun rack and a knife on their belt
we were living in America
and we were free
now fingernail clippers will get a kid expelled ...
what have we become ?

here are the pair of gargoyles on top of the stage
its 2 semi trailers parked together...
crappy pic i know but its our history..
and history isn't always a clear picture

when ever we shoot video of our mega crowds
its always better with a band playing in the back ground
its the haunted hoochie way....
sooo much going on its over whelming

04-05-2012, 09:32 AM
I really want to make it to the Hooch one day, it just looks like alot of fun. Thats a cool idea for the stage and was wondering what type of bands play for your show? The Hooch looks like it screams metal!

04-05-2012, 09:39 PM
Awesome thread! Keep them coming, it's great to see these old photos, thanks for sharing!

04-10-2012, 12:29 AM
if your 555 im 666
i grew up heavy metal brother
and as you know ...
its a state of mind
gotta stay true to my art

here is our house band Only Flesh performing at the Dead Acres
they have been out in LA trying to get signed since november
and they did and its no wonder...
they are coming back into town in a month to shoot a new music video in Bad Trip in 3d
ill post when were done

WARNING this is Haunted Hoochie at Dead Acres
put the kids to bed ...
this thread is just getting started

04-10-2012, 07:29 AM
Metal is the only music that should be played at a haunt!

04-11-2012, 07:54 AM
speaking of metal...
you don't get more metal then lamb of god
they rawk...we hung out n told them bout all the crazy stuff we do...
now when ever they blow thru town
they make a stop by the hooch

04-12-2012, 08:04 AM
but lets get back to the 90s...
what inspired you ?
we have been working in the shop lately...on our newest creation
which let me tell you is freaking amazing...
and no doubt will be something everyone will soon want in their haunt..

and all the while we have been talking about inspiration...and how it is unavoidable to not be influenced..
although we were oblivious to what other haunts were doing around the country...pre internet back then...

while we were blazing a path borne outta our own minds we also watched movies...
and what inspired us at the time was the movie evil dead...
and it all started in a cabin out in the woods..

04-13-2012, 07:11 AM
happy friday the 13th
this is Toby Miracle..
this year is Tobys 22 year with haunted hoochie
I probably couldn't keep doing this without him
my entire dream team is still together..
its been the best of friends having the best of times

04-16-2012, 06:59 AM
its been a great building year so far for us..
hope the same for everyone else..

we have been in negotiations on more land
which has its positives n negatives
1.8 million is the price tag....
glad i despise money and greed so much...
not too sure how this project will end...
negotiations means please split me off a smaller piece...
and no land equals
not opening the old historic hoochie woods back up...
decisions decisions..
even with the failing economy pataskala (my city) is poised to grow..
i guess time will tell...I'm easy

heres more from the 90s
not sure how many of these we made...many..
btw...i have my favorites and heres one

04-16-2012, 09:09 AM
Awesome thread Timbo!!! Its truly making my brutal blood boil with nasty necrostalgia!!! I am lucky to by now i think to be remembered as one of the originals. The ones who built the haunted hoochie up with just sadistic ideas, blood, sweat, and shear devouring determination to do diabolical deeds to people and stay outta jail, lol....well all that and a whole lotta trips to the hardware store. Im proud of my 17 years with you man, & what youve help me acomplish in my life. I was just a 15 yr old kid when I wandered onto your farm with just a hunger to scare. The endless support you show us all, especially me in creation and the very idea of creavtivity, balls to the wall, no limits chaos kind of creation. And quite the brainstorms you have sent me into, hell brain hurricanes!!! How else could I have come up with the idea for the DEMON BIRTH that has sent shock waves that I have seen through the industry. You never saw even the idea of birth and mutilation even mentioned...even discussion of such too Taboo...until....It pops in this sick brain u created in me..out of no where the next year there are bloody babies and fetuses flying across the show floor in Vegas!! Lmao. hell...even I thought....."NOOOOO....We cant do that! can we...? NOOO!" But two words from you Tim have always stuck with me, almost guiding me through life, "Why Not". wisdom to live to die by right there.
so instead of going back to my boring job, i called you and hesitantly told you my gruesome totally outrageous offensive never been done because of so IDEA.

.....and I will never will forget your explosive enthuisiasm. "HELL FUCKIN YES!!!! I know just how to engineer it. Its PERFECT!! I'm out the door to start on it RIGHT NOW!!"

(it was dead december winter folks, maybe christmas eve, record 100 year ICE storm was in effect all I can remember is thinking hes finally gone crazy)

thats the kind of work ethic it takes to be such a pioneer, such an inspiration as Tim is to us all. I know it seems im laying it on kinda of thick, but im really not. he truly is one of a kind, my mentor in mayhem...my brother.

thank you Tim for all you have done for me and for us all,
your friend and brother in harm, Nate~

hell yeah~hell yeah indeed

04-16-2012, 09:29 AM

Here is a pic of me as just a 15yr old fledgling frightener(a 6ft 210lbs intimindating fledling)
I just took a latex micheals myers mask and put dreadlock extensions in it(dam that old latex got HOT as u can see)

~but everything evolves~

So here is one of the evolved present day me(if not lost in the data transfer would have looked badass in that new issue in the article I wrote, lol)

04-17-2012, 07:29 AM
Nate i gotta say nothing goes with coffee in the morning like sittin down and finding your post...
thank you very much sir...
it has been my pleasure to give you a platform to hone your skills...
you have been an important part of the team since the first day we met...
besides Dave Basham...
no single other person has added more ideas that we have built then you...
and i thank you ....i am a very lucky man to have such a creative team..

without a doubt i have not been a success on my own...

i surround myself with creative geniuses ...
then practice good listening...even good note taking skills...

u Nate along with so many others are the Haunted Hooch at Dead Acres...
its all you...
i am just another workaholic....
and without your direction i would not have a job....
soo thanks again brother...///

its Great relationships like ours that makes for the best things in life...
even tho its 9 am and i have pl glue stuck to my arm hair..
and i have already spilt contact cement on the shop floor...
and there is no way i am buying 17 acres for almost 2 millions dollars.....
i am all smiles today...

04-18-2012, 07:15 AM
this time of year always feels like crunch time to me...
with running a paintball biz..company pic biz....and the Hooch
there is such limited time to pull off the impossible...
so its a round the clock job...
and even when i sleep i cant turn off the brain...
but as much as we do ...
we accomplished more back in the 90s....haha

i think i could post our 90s creation pics all summer....
heres another one of my favorite corpses...

04-19-2012, 10:35 PM
Metal is the only music that should be played at a haunt!

its awesome how metalheads and haunters are usually intertwined.. at our haunt, we only play metal of the most extreme kind.. black, death, grindcore, and thrash!!

04-23-2012, 06:42 AM
my absolute favorite kinda metal is rusty

the project of moving haunted hoochie indoors to dead acres was 7 years in the making ..
and i had many visions of what i wanted it to be like...and that included alot of rusty metal...
i am a certified rusty metal head....
so out behind the new building i started a rusty relic pile...
that grew over the years...and after we moved
i started placing relics from the pile...
the last of it i grabbed with the bobcat forks...and carried to where i was using them..
and at the very bottom of this pile was this cemetery gate...
but i had never put this gate in the pile...
i had never even seen this gate before...
apparently it had been under the ground where i started this pile of rusty relics....
waiting there through the years...
apparently over many many decades ...
to become part of dead acres......
or maybe the haunt is built over on old abandoned cemetery...i just don't know..

anyways i thought that was something special to share with u all...

05-01-2012, 07:48 AM
i hate reading on here about how haunts sucked back in the day....?????
speak for your self...

haunted hoochie was kick ass....and still is...
to kinda quote the black eyed peas..
if your not 3008 then your 2000 n late

back then we were paving the way to what haunted houses have become today...
and we still are

this is what we called the wipeout...
another haunted hoochie original ....

its an old Kawasaki drag bike ....
and would pile em up back in the day...

05-02-2012, 07:28 AM
The lyrics are "I'm so 3008 you're so 2000 and late"

Great video and pics it's great that you documented it so well over the years to chart your growth.

05-03-2012, 08:57 AM
yeah dark..i was puttin my own spin on their lyrics...
if your not paving the way then your just following the herd...
was my point..

the fact is the old hooch is truly not well documented...
i am amazed at how much we just took for granted...
for example we were carving foam mausoleums and facades with hardly a pic to be found in my collection..
like video of the talking tree in action...
or this great effect where we had this huge monster that lifted the roof off the building and reached in at the patrons with a huge hand....not one pic...uugh
we still have the head ...
we use now use in bad trip in 3d but no pics or video of the kick ass effect of having a monster looking in and reaching at your group.....
at least not that has been uncovered yet...

and soo many more simple ideas and effects that didnt seem so revolutionary ..
until a vendor is selling them in chicago... omg...

we all evolve and back then i was too wrapped up in creating and not enough of taking pics and video...
now days i may take 100 pics to get that perfect pic to present to the public...
its a testament of my evilution that i will even show off old pics here on hauntworld....

i am always concerned about how i represent my passion...my art
and those old day pics just don't live up to my current standards...
but i am only here to show off to my peers...
stir up some ideas for others to use....
and show where some of these creations originated...
for us anyways...cause like i said before we just didnt have anyway to gauge what other haunts were doing...
we were flying without a map so to speak....

which if you ask me is where the magic happens...
its not wondering what the next big movement for the industry is ...
its just following your own passion...
look at any of the great haunts...
you could say Ben Armstrongs parade march is big for this industry....
or his adding lions and elephant bones and more to a haunt is big...its changing the game..and changes perceptions..now a haunt can be like a museum...
or even hitting your costumer's in the parking lot with amazing actors...
the list goes on...

but its passion that is the driving force that changes everything...
all the greats are the same...
haunted overload's effigy inspired buildings..etc...its his ...it has Erics stamp on it...
erebus...Eds vision of what a haunted house is...is painted on everything in that house...
house of shock...Ross is soo passionate about this game we all play...maybe too passionate..haha

the next big thing for this industry is sitting out in your garage...
you just take this thing...and add some more of those things to it..
and talk to that guy down the street that knows how to help make this idea happen...
its all in your head and you already know its gonna be great....

when u follow your passion...
you are a leader...
and it doesnt matter if your idea ends up in haunts all over the country...
you are making a living doing what you love to do...and for me that's reward enough...
but your idea just might catch on...
and change how everyone thinks about haunted houses....

hope that came out right...
i better get back to work...

05-08-2012, 07:51 AM
my girls Gina Plank and Vanessa Williamson and other actors from the Hooch are heading up the Columbus Ohio zombie walk this year.....
zombies helping feed the community seems like a very good thing

05-08-2012, 07:58 AM
heres another promo they put together..

i should mention the torch was handed down to them by Kurt Channey aka actiondeath on here

05-15-2012, 06:49 AM
he laid in wait behind the bushes..waiting on the unsuspecting public...
first you would here some rustling then..he would rise to a height of 40 feet...
his whole body was animated ...arms legs torso...and he talked to the crowd.....chanting haunted hoochie...
we named him Hack...
another first of his kind...

05-15-2012, 07:07 AM
he took all spring and summer to construct...
and one of the only ones we videoed the entire build...
does anyone know of another haunt back in the 90s that was making monsters like this ???
or even to this day..?? he is definitely a monster of monstrous proportions
yet he was just part of the infancy of the Dead Acres

Jolly Pumpkin
05-15-2012, 10:19 AM
I've been to a lot of haunts and I've never seen a monster that size except at Haunted Hoochie. I remember there being strobes flashing on him and him talking to the crowd asking to give him a HELL YEAH.

05-23-2012, 07:46 AM
Dave Basham n myself standing on a john deere 630 posing with Hack in 98

05-23-2012, 07:48 AM
and today Hack is retired and guards the ticket barn at Dead Acres

05-23-2012, 09:40 PM
Maybe you can give us a basic rundown of how you made monsters such as hack

05-24-2012, 11:33 PM
i must add
hack was inspired by iron maidens eddie...haha ...more rock influence
and him and other creations we made like him
are simple to make...its really whatever your heart desires..
just as soon as i can find sum time i will edit the hack build video...
and post....
its time thats tough to find though..
i am just gettin in and i think its 1 or 2 am
working round the clock to unleash that new dead acres horror

hope everyone has a great Holiday weekend

06-04-2012, 07:47 AM
just back from an absolutely awesome vacation
soakin up the sun and all the best things in life
feels great to get back to the haunt though
we have work stacked up and should keep us busy til opening
before i left i converted formats of the hack build and will hopefully get some time to edit this week
til then some more haunted hoochie goodness to hold u over

06-06-2012, 07:46 AM
this guy is called red head
he hung from a track and charged at the crowd
his mouth n eyes both were hand operated
his eyes are beer balls..haha and looked great lit from inside...
another hoochie creation from the ninties...

06-07-2012, 08:31 AM
Ron (ROMO) Morrison is a guy this operation could not do without...
he is one of the most organized and precision guys on our team...

That is an awesome looking costume!

Now you guys need to open for MHC 2013...it IS their 10 year anniversary! ;)

Hope to make it back to Columbus in the next year or 2 to see the Hoochie again...

06-12-2012, 07:36 PM
Awesome! This is a great thread!

06-14-2012, 07:58 AM
thank you Eric...its been a great ride...
my gramps got me into all this...he was doing a haunted hayride here on our farm since 53,
they did all the old horror at the time..wolfman...creature from the black lagoon..frankenstein etc..
my grandfather rode a horse as the headless horseman...
now a member of city council and the clerk both had come to our farm to enjoy the haunted hayrides as kids...
soo for me its a family tradition

i was talking to one of the grandkids of Dave Grim one of my gramps friends and partner..
and they were just tellin me that they still have an original horse hair wolfman costume that my gramp and his grandfather had made back in the fifties...
he lives around here but the costume is in Missouri at one of uncles...i think Dave Grim had 12 kids....crazy...
but there's a high price auction piece ....

soo anyways when i took over this biz we started off with a bang making things
like it had been bottled up just waiting to get out...
apparently things that had never been done before
soo while i am still around in this biz i figured i would show this community a lil haunted history...

i wish we had some kinda haunted historian on here who could enlighten us
when i did a lil research i cant find anything before distortions electric chair...
and we were doing things that just plain blew that kinda thing away.....

i remember the same year we made our first kicking body for a hanging scene..
Dale Feazel had the idea and Mike Lucas who was working on airplanes, had the technology..
we made a steal armature that just hinged at the waist and the knees...one actuator for the waist and the knees just freely swinging...
we put a hood over his head and gloves on his hands and when he worked it just made us laugh at how unbelievably real it looked...
people who would come thru never guessed he was an animation...
they would say ...i dont know how much you pay that guy but its not enough....

man those were the best of times....

06-14-2012, 08:14 AM

thank you too....

ill tell you you have to hand it to all the haunts that open in the summer for midwest...
i have done it 3 times now and it is aot of work...and right in the middle of building season...
i do this whole thing outta love...NOT for money...and i know the last time we opened for MHC we made 11 grand for childrens hospital...
which i know some of you know holds a special place in our hearts here...

while we were building the first hack in 1994 my son was born with hirshbrungs disease and we lost him at 10 months old...
my daughter who is now 12 has the same disease....we battle it everyday...and we are blessed to have childrens hospital here in columbus...
when we had timmy my son we had insurance
but the bills beyond the coverage was over 3 million...
soon after his death ...childrens ripped up what we owed them....God bless em

we have made some amazing things since we lastly opened for MHC
and i do like to show off...
sooo maybe
let me think on it awhile

06-14-2012, 08:20 AM
if your just clickin on this be sure to read the bottom of the last page...
some good info in there and searching for some haunted facts..

06-16-2012, 02:07 PM
no responses
dont plead the

i was just askin if anyone knew of any other haunts doing this kinda stuff before the Hooch
its not often i bare myself
my family, ,my passion...
for histories sake...

red head got lonely so we made him a partner
his name is pug head...
they teamed up to scare..
while one had your attention the other came from behind...
maned by Scott Litz
inspired by the first poltergeist movie
giving credit where credit is due....

did these old creations inspire others in this industry...maybe ..maybe not..but they definitely set a precedent.. ...
and soon there were 3 local companies making animations here in columbus ohio...
one of which still employs one of our old employees...

have a great weekend

06-19-2012, 06:24 AM
red head still hasn't retired
and lately he has been doing side jobs scaring for Netherworld

Great thread- it is always cool to see a haunts evolution. It is hard/ impossible to say who had what first and it does not matter. What matters is you have a great show that a lot of people find worth working for. I love seeing these pics.

06-21-2012, 08:33 AM

i'm sure your right...
everyone was making huge monsters in their shop...
i would love to see some ...

06-22-2012, 07:42 AM
I'm glad you like the thread...
it was inspired by Erics haunted overload thread..
and Americas most influential haunt article...
its been a great ride scaring the hell outta america..
and the best part has been dreaming something up
then making it happen...

i think it is clear to see what influenced us with this skit....
this piece dates itself..haha..

just another part of our haunted hooch history>>>enjoy

07-02-2012, 06:59 AM
the nineties sure was a blast
before animation companies existed and most haunts were black plastic and jaycees in kmart masks...
the Hooch was kickin ass n clearly treading where no haunts had before.....

just like we still do today
following our vision of the future of haunted houses.....

and i have only touched on what brings people from soo far and wide..
but before we git into that..

heres another look back into the world of the early days of Americas baddest haunted house....

the haunted hoochie at dead acres...

I have GOT to dig out the pics and video of us making puppets in the early 90s.
we built life size creature marionettes, and the 15' giants that are the forefathers of what we make now.
Anybody know how to convert VHS to digital in a easy way. I have so much weird stuff on VHS you would not believe.

07-06-2012, 09:16 AM
Kevin i use a sony multi function dvd recorder model vrd-mc5 ...
i think best buy could hook u up....
i remember your tall stalk arounds with legs...
cant wait to see more of your old stuff...

i want to edit the hack build its just soo time consuming..
and we seemed to video between actual working ...
but i will eventually post it...

heres something a lil different from bad trip in 3 d...
everything here moves...
the dragon flies and butterfly wings
the preying mantis head and hands...
walking spiders and lady bugs...
the head of the snake...
and not pictured is the flying bees...
besides the fly trapp...made by Bo at unit 70
i guess u could say theres alot going on here..haha

Well here is a picture of our Giant Back Pack Rod puppets. The naked old man is called " Spooky Ernie" and this is where it all started. He was built in the mid 90s. 15' tall and scary as hell when coming at you. The Robot named "Cranky" was built the following year. And the other 2 "Giggles" and "Zang the Destroyer" were built a couple years later. The first 2 were hand built soft sculpts. "Giggles" and "Zang" have molded parts for reproduction. These beasts are the fathers to ALL our other Oversized costumes. And the first 2 were done YEARS befor Gore Galore was even a gore (fore) thought.

07-08-2012, 11:52 AM
Kevin thats awesome
we did 9 foot monsters too...

i am on the way out the door with the family for another week at salt fork lake with family from outta town..
soo i gotta make this quick before i get into more trouble with my wife..

let me first apologize for the crappy pic but the only one i see here in my files..
if you look close u can see the operators face through the screen...
xmortis inspired i think...
we saw em at the ohio state fair before i went to transworld for the first time...
we made 2 versions..but hence the only pic..
we also still have them in our arsenal...

thanks for the old pic...

07-31-2012, 05:15 PM
I really hope to be able to make the drive over again this year, but all depends on if I can get grandma to watch my newborn twins. Best Haunt I have ever been to hands down. I love your place.

08-10-2012, 11:04 AM
I just found your youtube videos with my son... my god your haunt looks incredible. The set designs are so realistic and not cheesy at all. Ohio is a long way from Nebraska, but a trip out just might be worth it.

The NE haunts aren't impressive at all; more of the big prop/animatronic and teenagers in goodies and masks if you know what I mean lol. I wish I had somebody like you to learn from over here!

Pretty cool seeing the videos months after seeing the pics you posted up on here. Some pretty genius creations man.

08-11-2012, 08:14 PM
thankyou very much...
after spending all day in the rain n mudd...
working on our newest n greatest creation...
it is nice to sit down n find your comment on here...

you are my fan pick of the week...
if you trek into town from Nebraska
your experience here is on me...

i encourage u to do so...
show u behind the scenes too..
this place is a machine...

thanks again....

now I know this attraction is a must see !!!!!! fire marshall Bill, LIVE !!!!!!

08-12-2012, 10:55 PM
That is an incredibly generous offer! Man I would love to see some behind the scenes and talk to you; the set design looks to be unreal and im sure I could pick up alot of tricks! I can't wait to tell my son about your offer he's obsessed with the haunted hoochie now lol.

Now the hard part: convincing my fiancÚ that flying up there to see a haunt is a BUSINESS trip (actually it would be an awesome investment of resources!)

Seriously that is awesome of you.

Quick question: that part where the guy shoots himself w the shotgun... is there a waterfall on that wall to "reset" the blood off before the next group??? If you don't want to get into detail on here I'll give you my email so you could use that..

Thanks again man I can't wait to tell my fiancÚ and son!

08-12-2012, 10:57 PM
Oh also im not asking about the scene because I want to use that, the haunt im trying to put together is an infected zombie theme, due to the huge popularity of zombies currently. I've got a couple scenes that I can't do unless I can find a way to reset blood..

Marr Branch
08-13-2012, 06:21 PM
Yeah, how do you do the shotgun suicide? I do want to set up that scene at my haunt. I would'nt be the first to imitate.

08-14-2012, 10:25 PM
i haven't really gotten into my brutal side on these bible belted forums..
the haunted hoochie is brutality at its best...
and with the posting of eli roths house it makes me think about my inner workings of my haunted mind...
eli and i are eye to eye on a few things...
as u know...

brutal reality is king

too me fantasy is fine....when your young...but not sprinkled all over your haunted house...unless its for kids...
cheese you may call it.....ie fake....ask your self is there static props just hangin out in my haunt..??
answer yes and your haunt might have a cheese factor...the more you have the cheesier it is gets....

my haunt has changed alot from the early days....but my commitment to realism hasn't..
and realism isn't just fancy sets...
its a state of mind...
its how u feel when the guy bagging your groceries...
is standing in your bathroom when u step outta the shower...

ordinary people can commit exceedingly extraordinary acts of brutality ...
and that my friends is scary shit.. and very damn real..

haunted hoochie deals in real and we do it well...
but we live in a morally fragile society....
and our moral decisions have consequences..
and not just for us...but everyone in our world...

to me loading blood is extremely easy...buy a pump..
there is so much more to it...and
if u haven't been able to figure that out
maybe u should not do it

first step is load the gun....

08-15-2012, 09:44 AM
Lmao ok ok. So I talked to the fiancÚ and it looks like I will probably be taking you up on your offer. Im sending you a pm. Thanks again!

Marr Branch
08-16-2012, 07:21 PM

08-18-2012, 12:45 PM
scotty...got your pm...damn guess i get alot more of those things then i realized...
when ever its good for u it wont be for me...but come out anyways...haha...

marr....lets see...i guess case in point about wraps it up....poor tasty pigs..your brutal man...your brutal

come throw your lives away this year at the hoochie...new for this year....the junkyard

08-25-2012, 06:32 PM
what a bad pic of the yard..jumped the gun there i think..
more on the way...

this is the year of the snake at the Hooch...
your not gonna see this anywhere else...

08-27-2012, 03:35 PM
hell yeah...hope everyone is having as much fun as we are this year....
once again we did over a quarter million of improvements and it shows...
this junk yard has some real classics...55 chevys and Oldsmobile....a Henry j....a kaiser...39 ford coupe..40 chevy ..29 model a ford...and many many more....

what a blast from the past and a glimpse of the future...

into hell we delve in 2012

08-27-2012, 04:00 PM
I love how you bury dead trees upside down so that the roots look like branches. I think the only place I have ever seen that besides your place is a theme park in Mexico, Xcaret. That is what I would call "detail!"

08-28-2012, 02:11 PM
thanks Ben...as u know

the devil is in the details

08-29-2012, 06:20 AM

when he runs its unbelievable...
cant wait to tape him with patrons running...

09-05-2012, 04:49 AM
Amazing, would love to see video of him in action!

09-05-2012, 10:29 PM

be my guest ...hell we r practically neighbors..
u might end up like this poor young girl...

09-08-2012, 08:48 PM
this year is gonna be absolutely crazy...the public has never been more ready for haunts to open..
and i have some inside info on a new haunted house movie...being shot next year...
soo its only gonna get better...and better....

hope some of you can make it out to the hooch this year...
we have a great new line up...more pics coming soon

09-12-2012, 07:48 PM

horror like u have never seen before...
this one will creep into your dreams at night...

09-12-2012, 10:07 PM
Loving all the new additions this year. Looks like I will be able to make it over after all. Grandma said she would try and watch my 5 month old twins over night. So the wife and I will be there for the 3rd year in a row. Can't wait to see all the changes.

gotta love it when another haunt is using your photos to promote their haunt....

if it was easy to run a kick ass haunt..then all the haunts would kick ass...

anyone know these guys ?? i am sending a cease letter..did larry have a haunt doing this ?

and their site has many of our pictures

09-30-2012, 02:39 AM
Wow, just goes to show you how much creativity they have lol. That's the pic right of Haunt World's cover! We made a huge mistake partnering up with them back in 2010. Back then they were not a haunt, but just promoters. They saw how many people we brought in and wanted us to partner with them in 2011. We said we are going to stay on our own and will do the promotions ourselves. They got mad and started threatening us saying we better give them our website and our haunt name or they will do this to us and that. Last year we did get our outdoor facade vandalized. This year we gotten tighter security with surveillance cameras and actual undercover police walking around. We hope we can have a smooth 2012 season.

09-30-2012, 07:47 AM
we just had the largest weekend in September ever....
just unbelievable large crowds...i mean really unbelievable ...we had to open up the back parking lots..soo 40 acres of parking all packed and its still September...
and they come from soo far away...
i spoke to a group that had drove up from Florida ...
they said they have come every year for the last 3 years....
and a group from Maryland..and Missouri
hope its the same for everybody else...just a great start to another great season...

09-30-2012, 08:32 AM
How are all those giant heads working out for you?

09-30-2012, 05:56 PM
seems this one couldn't handle the first weekend at 40 psi...haha..
another industry standard ...if your gonna be a haunter u better have a welder...
i didnt see this one coming..they looked well put together to me..looks like maybe a lil reinforcement should do the trick...
the other ones held up as far as i know....normally we can see problems with design or engineering and fix them before we start...
and we always let the vendor know our concerns for future designs.....
but this one got by us...
the problem we saw right off is those bearings being welded in...although that's not what broke..we have had problems with them in the past..and will be hard to remove when welded in..
but they held up so far....sorry brother kev but u asked...

as for the vendors that promised product in June and they still haven't arrived...save some shipping and send our thousands of dollars deposit back...
i know u get on here cause u pm'ed me and made more broken promises...honestly cant wait to see u guys again...

here is a tip from a guy who has been in this biz for a minute..buy a year in advance...that way you are not putting your reputation on the line or holding up your build because of a vendors integrity that is outta your control...

10-02-2012, 11:37 AM
soo i just got a private message from a chicken butt owner who is afraid of these guys at this ripp off haunt..
guess they have stolen their art too...and made threats ...and vandalized.....wtf is wrong with that picture ?
our lawyer is proceeding as we speak ...rerminds me of the story on the news of land of illusions owner stealin a competetors signs...
why the dirty pool ?...you r making us all look bad
this year we have been under a barrage of attacks from another haunt too...
a haunt that is clearly a spin off of the Hoochie...i'm flattered...

but really? there is only one haunted hoochie...and our reputation proceeds us
might need to do sum old fashioned skull spilttin...haha..sike

Gore Galore
10-02-2012, 04:40 PM
Actually they are put together very well.
We also weld in gussets in all the angles now.
And I really wish you would have emailed this to me when it happened. It helps us make constant improvements to our products. And that is the only way we can help you.
Which you know we always do.

40 psi is the proper operating procedure.

Did you make any adjustments to the flow control exhaust valves?
We set them at the proper operating speed. But somehow they adjust themselves in or out sometimes and other times the customer readjusts them.
So, please check the others. They do not need to move fast to look good. And this puts unneeded stress on the armatures.
Do you need us to send you any gussets or anything to make the repairs?

10-02-2012, 10:02 PM
no way kevin..we got this one...i was readin the thread when toby came in the office and told me about the break..
i took the picture just prior to posting and now we r back up and running..
no gussets were there..but there are now..we r good..
looks like he was cathin some bones on the floor..probably had alot to do with it...
the fact is animations break...we know it going in..we break em..
and we fix them..nature of the beast
and we play rough...

get to the hooch...
hell never looked this good

OUr business is not built on selling you something. It is built on servicing what we sell.
SO if you ever need anything please do not hesitate to ask.
We are ALL over this.

I would love to see some pics of your install of our beasts sometime

10-03-2012, 11:42 AM
man i am soo sorry for this but...please dont go edit that..cause

seriously...your business is not built on sellin but servicing what u sell ???

heres a thought...

maybe all haunt vendors should build their business on selling product that doesn't need serviced....

I know what you are saying. BUT
What is sad is I try to be supportive and help you solve a problem, and here you are trying to twist my words and intent.

So no thanks.
Im out.

But again, if you need anything, please just let us know.

10-03-2012, 07:06 PM

i knew thats how u would feel..sorry...some conversations aren't for a forum..
and are easily misinterpreted...and i am a sarcastic ass..me admitting that doesn't solve it..
but to me... what u said was funny
i know u are an upstanding member of this community and dont run from problems..
like some other vendors do..
the thing about building animatronics
is its a learning curve..hence gussets have been added..i am not sore in the slightest..
i have spent 35 grand on animations and welded on them every single weekend all season long..
and even in that situation..i understand that some things just cant be figured out til its in operation and taking on abuse..
i looked at those heads before they were installed and looked built like brick out houses...
i hope no hard feelings.....i know u stand behind your product...just like all passionate people do..
again sorry for the sarcasm
on another note..this post has 10,666 views...must be a sign

Thank you!
I so very much appreciate you seeing that we do build animatronics and giant costumes to take a beating, and knowing I and my company are here for the long haul.
thank you for basically posting for me, what I was going to respond with.
But I decided to take the high road and not respond with hurt feelings and say something I would regret.
Sadly, it is just so hard to see the intent or humor in writing.
But like I said, I do get where you are coming from.
I can't speak for vendors in general, but we build everything the best we think they can be built.
And like you said, we also improve as we go, so we now add gussets at all the joints.

thanks again,

I just have to say I went to the Hoochie on Sat. And I was blown away.
There queueline is huge because it has to be. I bet there were an easy 500 people in line. We hung out and talked with the crew till about 1am, and the line stayed that way all night long
So they had to have run 2000 that night alone.

The level of detail is over the top. Tim and his crew do not build things like a theatrical set so it "LOOKS" real.
They build them and they are real. what I mean is if you see a rock wall, it is not vacuform. It is a REAL rock wall. And that is how they do everything.
And the sets were very cohesive.

You can tell the actor's love it. Lots of high energy. and they read the customer. And would respond based on that read.

Of course it is all very over the top.

If you get a chance, you should check it out. You won't be disappointed.

Thanks TIM,
I really appreciate the hoochie treatment.

Kevin....thank you sir..

10-10-2012, 08:22 PM
looks like a haunted hoochie add...but look close..its for land of illusion

seems to be a trend lately of using the haunted hoochie brand to help sell another haunt...
already talked to this owner about this issue and he took down the google adds...but still running them on yahoo...jeez
i know all these adds have to be approved..but he blamed it on reach local...more cease n desist letters
im flattered

10-10-2012, 09:14 PM
Voice isnt going to make it but I will be there to atleast go through for ya. Seems like I remember something like this happening with this guy before

10-11-2012, 07:53 PM

10-11-2012, 09:07 PM
If you look really close you can see me somewhere in that madness.

10-12-2012, 01:34 PM
one thing is for sure...
the hooch draws a crowd...and from all around the country..
i owe alot of that to ben armstrong..and larry kirtchner..
those guys r working hard for all of us...
each time they do a show on tv..or post a top list...that spreads out across this country...on national outlets everywhere
it sells tickets for us all...
the iron is hot this year..
we have had the largest weekends ever...
and we have always had tremendous crowds...
but seriously...this year is absolutley insane...
we provide a show like no other ...its agressive ...and splatacular...and the most scenic haunt in America today...and that sells
i talk to people coming from over 20 hours away...
people plan their vacations to come here...
i am extremely lucky...to have the worlds most extreme haunt....thank u all

10-14-2012, 02:14 PM
we were sure raisin hell at the hooch last night...
the guy on the right of this pic hit me doin 50 mph...
n they never stopped running..enjoy

10-15-2012, 12:47 PM
The Land of Illusion seem to really like playing dirty tricks.

Last year I was to meet a friend at the Dent Schoolhouse. He googled "Dent Schoolhouse Address" and plugged the first result into his GPS. Guess where he ended up?

The Land of Illusion.

I haven't been back there since they got caught swiping competitors signs a few years ago.

10-21-2012, 07:33 PM
We had a blast Saturday night. Thanks for taking a minute or two to say hi. You guys were swamped, thats for sure. I have never seen a VIP line that long Let along the GA line. There must have been every bit of 5-6000 people there when we talked to you. Love all the updates, you guys out do yourself every year. Like I said Saturday night, I had just gone to the 13th Gate down in Lousiana on Thursday night and your haunt blows them out of the water. Thanks for such a great time. We will be back next year for round 4.

10-25-2012, 09:22 AM
well now that is one hell of a review....always love to hear the Hooch blows away one of the highest rated haunts in america today....
thank u very much
u r most correct sir.....we definitely deliver

and it was absolutely one hell of a crowd too...
i have never seen a VIP line a half mile long either...we didnt close til 4 am...and after they closed the gates...more cars wanted to pull in...
sorry i couldn't hang out longer...i wanted to show u the bar upstairs..and some other goodies...
maybe come on a thursday next time...

if anyone wants to see the largest lines in this biz...come out this sat....u cant fit it into a picture..
just dont try to get here around nine...cause the state highway turns into a tailgate party...
people now talk about how long the wait is....just to pull into our parking lot....

everyone want to raise hell at the hooch

10-25-2012, 10:24 AM
The state highway def. backs up I think we sat there in traffic for a good 15 mins. It was about a mile back up. I know the time it took to buy our VIP tickets (about 10 mins) the parking lot where we parked was already half full and we were in the very front of it. Car after car pulled in none stop, I am surprised you didn't run out of parking. Thats a problem that any haunt would love to have, if they had the size lots you have.

No problem about not getting to see behind the scenes. You guys were swamped I completely understand. I think a lot had to do with the nice weather.

Just one suggestion, with the amount of rain you guys normally get in October. You might want to fill in the area in the VIP line that was a giant puddle Saturday night. It might allow for the VIP line to have a small Que area instead of being a straight line way out into the parking lot and across the path of traffic on the nights where it gets that long. You guys did do a good job with security at the traffic crossing though so Kudos for that.

10-26-2012, 03:04 PM
wall street journal called me about an article they were doing on how haunts around america r stepping it up a notch...

a big big announcement coming soon...
but til then...
have a great weekend
and a Happy Halloween from all of us at the Hoochie

lets hear it

11-27-2012, 10:30 AM
2012 is in the books and was the most amazing year ever...
i feel bad to boast when soo many haunts are talking about hurting...

honestly with the horror craze thats underway in america im not sure why that is...
we were prepared with the greatest show we have ever produced...
and the hoochie heads responded in droves
and we were under siege too...
we had another haunt sending our web traffic to their site..
haunts using our pictures to promote their haunts..
internet sabotage that removed our sites from all the search engines....
and a haunt that sent letters to all the officials..trying to close us down...yopp some dirty tricks.....
u know who u are...and we know who you are...haha....wtf ...cheaters never win

but there will always be haters and thieves....boo
it just keeps us on top of our game..

we are currently working on the biggest news we have ever released...
but i cant open it up yet till all the details r worked out...its gonna be great...
great for us and this industry i love soo much...

Happy Holidays
get some rest cause it will be October before u know it....
with love...the Hoochie

11-27-2012, 11:20 AM
Congratulations on an awesome season! I can't believe all that sabotage against you. Just goes to show that a kick ass production will win every time! Like you, I love talking to people from other states that drive or even fly in for our show. You have built up an insane hardcore following over the years! Looking forward to your big news, keep us posted.

I think the masses have spoken and they wanna see you at MHC...Tell you what...If you open up, Granny will be there with bells on bitching at anyone that is stupid enough to come inside. Any other actors wanna help.

12-19-2012, 11:03 AM
ok...here it is...
some haunted houses build sets
try to make em look real etc...
we build real..

and holly wood has noticed...

and instead of us going to hollywood...
hollywood is coming to the hooch...thats right..
this year we will be shooting a movie here at Dead Acres...
the location manager of the film has secured our haunt for most of the summer...licking county and columbus ohio are both pitching in
the project is being called harvest season at Dead Acres....not sure if that will be the name of the movie ....maybe..
it is based on a story about a haunted house that wants to be the best haunt in the world...
and soo instead of actors...they kidnap patrons..n torcher them live on stage ...
no wonder they picked our location right...

i dont really know too much more yet...but they r paying us to have the haunt up and in running condition in march...
which is a huge project....as u all know...the hooch isnt your everyday kinda haunt...

but heres a spin off of the movie...

we will be opening for midwest haunters convention for the friday night bus tour...
sooo i suggest if u have ever wondered what the Hell is really going on out here...
u get here n check it out for yourself....

this may be your last chance...

thanks i look forward to seeing u all very soon....at all of our favorite convention the Midwest Haunters

12-19-2012, 11:09 AM
Congrats on the Award Tim! I will keep my word and Granny will be there, this is awesome news, Let me know if there is anything I Can do to help

05-26-2013, 09:29 AM
Happy Holiday weekend to all..
hope your out enjoying it instead of being here

but you are here soo

as you know the Hooch isnt into aliens or static props or masks that cover up your gorgeously hideous face...
we do graphic horror involving your neighbor, teacher or the guy bagging your groceries....
you know ...real life is scarier then anything...

soo this year we are bringing back the scariest thing we have ever done..
the Boy scout Troop Leader

picture the scene..
your at the Hooch and the lights goo black..
you hear a zipper unzipping...
followed by ok kids lets rub our sticks together....haha omg i crack myself up sometimes

see u all soon at midwest

05-31-2013, 08:55 AM

tonight is gonna be epic

06-07-2013, 09:28 PM

Jules Belkin of Belkin Productions in Cleveland, OH.. His company was the 2nd largest concert promoter in the country before the evil Clear Channel bought everyone out :(

Im not normally the one to talk about other haunts but just wow. The Haunted Hoochie was by far the BEST haunted attraction I have ever seen. From the moment you get yanked in to the moment you get out it is nothing but a pure amazing experience!
Thank you guys for putting on such a great show. (:

Wow...what an experience Friday Night!
This was my 2nd time through the Hoochie...last time was MHC 3 years ago.
I have to say it was intense then...but this time seemed amped up even more.
The actors were way more aggressive and the touches were not taps like last time...full on grabs and I even got my ass smacked in one of the outside scenes heading back inside and the guy yelled "DAMN, I LOOOOOOVE YOU!!!"
One of the most shocking things was getting sprayed with RED BLOOD from the guy in the chair...all over the white sleeve of my shirt. It got all over a friends face and hands. I expected it to be water for effect, and when we stepped into the next lighted portion...it was RED...crazy.
Love the Hooch!!!

06-11-2013, 01:01 PM
huge thank you to all who attended the MHC 10th anniversary celebration with us friday night...it was truly epic...
never has sooo many opportunities been presented to me in one evening....
we currently have 3 production companies interested in reality shows...
and despite we are under contract...looks like someone big may buy out our current contract
and while the shooting has begun for the Harvest Season movie franchise here..
we now have multiple movie and music producers interested in saving their productions money by shooting scenes here...
very exciting times for us
all i want is to sell a million hats...while i continue to do what i love the most..

scare the Hell outta America

thank u all soo very much

06-21-2013, 06:18 AM
Tim as I said last year, your haunt as ruined other haunts for me. I always compare them to yours and they just don't stand a chance. You have the best haunt around, I am just sad I don't think I will get to experience it this year due to work.

06-29-2013, 01:58 AM
Just found this thread and spent the whole night reading it ALL.Thank you for sharing so much of the hoochie and yourself in these posts.

Kelly Anderson
07-17-2013, 07:59 PM
the year was 1990 and we were in the concert business as was Dave Faukman..
thats right i am about to show off preScarefactory and all the spin offs that followed

anyways it was a guillotine were the head once again heckled the crowd before and after the decapitation
the eyes and mouth both moved with air and the valves were hand controlled so the guy running the mic could say anything he wanted and keep the mouth in time...
just a steal frame head with actuators a mask and Velcro... the guillotine was enormous and made just the same way we do it today..all 100 year old oak and a stainless blade..
the head once cut off hung from 550 cord and swung towards the crowd..
everyone thought it was great. now its like a trophy in my office

I know I haven't posted on here much over the past few years, but a few years ago I did a haunt room that really struck a cord with everybody involved! There were very few things I could keep as mementos but the best one of all was this saw blade we made. It was on a pneumatic air ram that came towards the patrons while they were seated. The blade only moved about 6-8 inches or so, and then the lights went out!!!! OH that was awesome! I kept this piece for when we finally got moved into our new place. As soon as the walls were painted in my shop the saw blade went up!!! I absolutely love it! Yah, people that walk in wonder what the hell...........but its all good!!!!!!!!! lol

07-21-2013, 02:30 PM
tater brother...man oh man...this certified work a holic has retired..well semi retired anyways..
i am back home for a reality show party then tomorrow and i am off again ...taking advantage of a new perspective on life...

i created this monster and it is a wild one.....and now i am setting her free....

vsneader ...ruining you for all other haunts and the best haunt around is what we strive for every single day around here..thank you very very much sir

wicked haunt II......I pour myself out to help fill others up..... when i lost my son it was unbearably hard...but has helped me see fire inspections, a city trying to legislate me outta business, or any other hardship as
small potatoes....soo i have followed my dream relentlessly and without regret...and it has taught me...so i teach you that thinking that anything stands in your way is only a way of thinking

Darkblood....thank you for loving the Hooch...and should have got your swag by now ? let me know

Dreadland.....man thank you soo much for the compliment about the pics....old pics are a grab bag ..but for the last 5 years i take all pictures myself...it has been part of my retirement plan...while taking pictures i am
observing the haunt and my crew operating it from an outsiders perspective.........and as i have been doing this i have been amazed at the performance and leadership skills they posses

Kelly Anderson.....thank you for relating to the hooch story...it is nice to keep a few mementos from meager beginnings....reminds me of our commitment to doing things that had never been done before... and
making lemonade outta lemons is a fundamental part of success...so hang up what makes u feel good and reminds u of who u are and where you are going....and put the rest into semi trailers and
plan for a retirement auction...i am up to 18 semi trailers not including the actual hoochie

hope i didn't miss anyone this time around...

i love this industry and everyone in it......even the vendor's who have ripped me off............teach me

thanks again for taking time to read my ramblings

07-21-2013, 06:38 PM
Hahah Tim it seems like your like me, can never fully just get away...another party..Ill be on standby just incase. Hope your enjoying your getaway

08-02-2013, 07:56 PM
I'm new here, don't know why I waited so long to join considering how much I love this industry. Anyway figured I'd post here first cuz I've always wanted to go to the hooch, and might finally be able to make the 7 hour drive this year, I'm so pumped. Badass, your haunt looks amazing. Can't wait to visit. Anyway, was just wondering, what do you plan on doing with your haunt when you retire? Would you allow your crew to keep running it, or close it? Just curious about it. Anyway, can't wait to visit the worlds most extreme haunted house, looks like a great show.

08-02-2013, 08:23 PM

Do yourself a Favor...Load up the car...and get your butt to the hooch, get a room so you can spend all night going through it just so you can catch everything. No excuses...just do it

08-03-2013, 07:52 AM

YES I got the swag! You are awesome man! The most kick-ass haunt on the planet giving us the most bat-shit crazy show I've ever seen. Love it!

I have the Hooch bumper stickers on my car and everyone around here calls my car the Haunted Hoochie at the day job...lol...it gives me a good reason to then tell them about the insanity I've experienced at your haunt!

Thanks again! Much kudos and respect man!

09-07-2013, 06:56 PM

where does the time go...
here it is Hoochie time again already...

Tater..u are da man...thank you for being one of our biggest fans..

Darkblood....i absolutely could not say it any better myself...and i quote...the most kick ass haunt on this planet giving us the most bat shit crazy show...is exactly what we do...thank u for saying it sir

Hauntman....u must let me know when u are here...love meeting everyone...thanks for the question....i have been grooming a team for years to take the reigns and it is working out great ...i have been a workaholic

see u all soon
i can already hear the big Hell Yeahs

09-11-2013, 06:25 PM
Zombietoxin...i can tell by your quote that we should hang out

I'll tell u

with today being sept 11 and spending hours reading all the scientific facts of the many studies of the 3 towers falling that day and the pentagon bs.....

today....sir.... i am disgusted.....sick

i try to see the light but cant

the Hooch is the worlds most extreme because i take the most serious things and turn them into a joke....entertainment...its what i do...

they would say u could never do that.....and soon haunts all around the country.....have life's little evil unmentionables ...zombieside..demon births..now its priest and nuns..with just a couple years under our

belts.....its accepted...the norm..we morph..we evolve.....i make jokes about lifes worst crimes...but not today

09-16-2013, 06:51 AM

inside u know what i mean....
we are reigning supreme in 2013

09-17-2013, 02:01 PM
I love this pic. There is an old farm house not far from here that has a field full of old cars, rusting away. Most of the cars are from the 40s and 50s, and everytime I drive by there, I see a scene just like yours with these old cars piled around, light emanating from within. One day ..... one day!

09-17-2013, 05:46 PM
Went to the Mid West Hauters Convention and went through the Hoochie. One of the best haunts I've been to!

09-19-2013, 10:32 AM

09-22-2013, 11:22 AM
we are soo lucky to be doing this thing we love

and people pay us just to see it...hope everyone makes it out this year..

many big changes on the haunted hoochie horizon..so u wanna be able to say..

i remember back before all that happened...

09-25-2013, 06:56 PM
i think that if u follow your passion in life it doesn't matter if people like what u do or not....

all the best have haters...but haters do not matter

because when you are doing what u love to do......you are ready to defend it

and when you do that...when you are following your dreams.....it shows....

and the crowds will follow too....

i think there is a market for Disney style haunts but i would not want to operate one....

i grew up in this business ...making skits for my grandfathers haunts in seventh grade....

realistic horror is my thing...dirty grungy in your face sexy bloody horror.....

its my art..my statement about life... living in a box because it might cost u a fan or a dollar or two....would suk balls...

and wouldn't be fun for me or my fans...

09-26-2013, 10:19 PM

Went through tonight, Awesome changes since June's Midwest Tour!! Place was packed, Rocking, actors were on point scaring the crap outta people. Even if you saw it in June you have to see the new changes they made...amazing work and good job once again buddy

09-27-2013, 07:10 AM
Oh man, I'm totally going this year!

I pass by the site once a week, it calls to me. Besides my g/f, it's the only reason to tolerate Reynoldsburg!

(No offense to anyone living in Reynoldsburg, or the 'burbs! I'm a city kid.)

09-27-2013, 04:09 PM
Hell Yeah...thank u tater..and toothpaste.....we built a new home over the winter then jumped right into building newness for everyone's favorite convention of the year... MHC !!!

then i went on vacation all summer while my team built what was pouring outta their brains....

my favorite is the Tooth fairy...Toby and Matt out did themselves....and we converted our entire haunt to LED's this year....i couldn't be more anti mercury bulbs...175 countries cant come together on anything but

they can agree that Mercury needs to be spread in every home...no thanks

see u all soon...

09-28-2013, 09:18 AM
soo last night the entire night sky over the Hoochie lit up like daytime

anyone that was outside had to see this...absolutely amazing..

and one just like this was just captured on a Canadian cops dash cam just last week...

10-02-2013, 08:34 AM
soo wow ...no joke..the numbers are in

Haunted Hoochie just had the biggest opening weekend in our history...and i could not be prouder....for 20 years we slammed the advertisement..right around a hundred grand a year..

but no more....with the electronic age..u can build a kick ass haunt..and reach the masses without doing a thing but putting it out there....for free..information spreads around faster then the speed of light..

soo for the first time in our history our content doesnt have to be filtered thru media outlets....u dont have to pay for radio..who listens ? or tv ? who watches ? u just have to build a kick ass haunt..

and the masses who see your pictures or experience your haunt and love it will spread the word like a virus .....what amazing times we live in...its a paradigm ......thanks for all the support..we love you guys

10-03-2013, 01:50 PM
its soo much fun being me....life is good

its raining outside and not even 4 o'clock and fans have set up tents and grills and r cooking out in the parking lot

and my daughter is playing land of the free and home of the brave on the keyboards....its a great time to be alive ...i am heading out to talk

hope everyone enjoys life as much as me

10-04-2013, 02:13 PM
I need to borrow your photographer because they are amazing. Larry

10-04-2013, 02:38 PM
Larry i will shoot your haunt anytime brother....but please understand that being positive doesn't include censorship of media

even when its your own media..its what is wrong with America ...way more then half of the people that read these forums r afraid to voice their opinions here...im sure thats not what u really want...

just like haunters that are afraid to stand up for our rights as Americans...its not a good thing on here or anywhere...delete away but you are only hurting yourself and this industry..i love u brother..

we are one in the same...one industry..one nation...one world...one...

10-04-2013, 03:29 PM
When are you coming? LOL I'm on pins and needles waiting for you to show up. Larry

10-05-2013, 11:23 AM
well then Larry its on..when is good for u...?? .i am tied up til sunday..u open all week..??
and i may have a camera crew tagging along if your ok with being on camera and talking ??
all reality tv isnt fake..

but remember Larry..my offer from 5 years ago still stands...i will give u our deluxe package...includes your plane tickets a hotel room and a rental car .....to come see the Hooch...u cant beat that offer....:twisted::twisted:

had some haunt owners asking about designs for haunted hoochie tattoos....soo i will take some hooch tattoo pics tonight ...we have many styles..
but branding is our newest way to identify a true family member...

this was filmed last night..
now remember...
your not a hardcore hoochie head unless u live hardcore...
this video isn't for the kiddies...

10-08-2013, 07:30 PM
its definitely Hooch weather..rained most of sat night..with a down pour for a few..
but didnt effect the crowd at all....so cant complain..but wow on sunday it poured all day...
and it got colder too...soo hopefully the cold holds on...alot easier on our actors...

we welded on 3 different effects and had to fix an illusion twice..and satan couldnt blow fire due to a short ..
soo i forgot all about tattoo pics..but will be sure to get some this weekend...unless i am in st louis...no reply yet on that..

i love taking pics..just another form of art...and it just gets easier as you go along...
the first few years i took em all with a fisheye..
but this year i put that crutch down...mostly anyways...but great for crowd pics..
when shooting fear the best advice is catch em as soon as they escape a scary scene...something about their expressions as they run...

heres one of my favorite from over the weekend

10-11-2013, 12:56 PM
another action pic from the hooch...
what a great year this has been so far...
i hear we have some of the darkness crew is coming tonight..hell yeah..told em their tickets were on me...
road trip...
love taking action pics

10-15-2013, 01:04 PM
i hear the numbers are up everywhere in America..so good to hear..
i know our lines have been packed..
help the Haunted Hoochie support breast cancer research this year
and sport the hottest haunted house gear at the same time by buying our new hot pink gear...hell yeah

10-15-2013, 04:03 PM
(tattoos) .

10-17-2013, 09:39 AM
heres a shout out to Kevin at gore galore...this guy and a few more were inspired by u...
figured i would give credit where credit is due..thank u for thinking outside the box..and coming up with original ideas..
you and men like u are inspirational to this industry..

rob from erie...i will post tattoo pics this weekend...i have been consumed with projects

10-17-2013, 11:38 AM
Nice Photo. Hey I'm going to the Darkness tonight to take some photos I'll upload later. See if I can come close to matching yours... your photos are always so bad ass. I just bought a new camera that takes pictures in low light without a tripod.

10-17-2013, 11:19 PM
what an amazing Thursday we just got done...its 1 am
this year is just insane..

Larry i shoot a nikon d 90...love it....good luck....its alot of fun..
and my inspiration was Erics haunted overload pics... soon as i saw them i thought i can do that

think i saw tater tonight.....thanks for coming out

I am honored.
And that is just creepy as hell.
I am also sure it will filter in my head and inspire something in me.

10-19-2013, 12:09 PM
working together is what its all about..

earlier this season we had some bible thumpers organize against us...
so i posted on fb..asking the public if the Hooch affects them in a positive or negative way...
if anyone has time during this busy time of year..check it out...it a great read..over 500 people responded from all over america
u never know how many lives u touch

all the news channels wanted to pick up the story..we linked them the thread...damn it..they never ran with it after that..
guess i shoulda just said hail satan..then it woulda made the news..hehe

what a great season....this year we decided we were soo big we didnt have to advertise..and we were right......thank GOD...hell yeah....only one place to get your Hoochie fix

10-19-2013, 05:00 PM
its raining...its cold...it must be sat night at the Hoochie

we r gonna raise sum hell....cant wait to see u all tonight

10-21-2013, 04:41 PM

here is hack..he was one of the first of his kind ..he is the monster that hid on the ground..behind the bushes in the original Hooch in the woods...
only to stand up to over 30 feet talk...he was amazing..and although he has retired....the public can still check him out in our ticket barn...i am sure i posted pics of him on this thread

10-21-2013, 04:51 PM
and here is Eric from our first room on bottom....who shoots himself...he is a true Columbus Ohio celebrity ...he cant go into a bar without having fans buy him his drinks..

and Nate from our last room on top...Nate is one of our biggest idea guys here at the Hooch...he just had a pancreatic attack which put him on life support for 8 weeks....soo glad to have him back....

crappy pic but the only one i could find for u....it only shows half of the front of our haunt in the pic but its all on the tat...so pretty sweet..

i will look for the one of our logo..

10-21-2013, 08:33 PM
This is my first tattoo. I wanted something scary as shit, and hoped you would have something 'up your sleeve' Tim. But I was getting ancy and didn't want to wait, lol.

But I still love the dead acres logo, might get a small one of those somewhere.

10-22-2013, 09:29 AM
kick ass art Rob...thanks for sharing.....up my sleeve huh..

so i bet u meant this one...it would be great carved into a pumpkin..
dead acres was just a way to get away from the stereo type cast on us by this industry..
once we made the first top list we dropped it....but the local kids love it because of its underground appeal
our fans just go with the flow...and man do we have hardcore fans...

heres another fan with dead acres....dont know if i mentioned this...a hooch tat or brand gets u life time entry into the Hooch so it has been catching on round here...thanks again Rob

10-22-2013, 11:10 PM
what an amazing year....
hope everyone else has been packing em in like the Hooch

hard to believe its already almost over...
let us all enjoy the next 2 weeks to the fullest..hell yeah

10-23-2013, 06:05 PM
soo this year our fire inspector in conjunction with the ohio state fire marshals office has been training fireman and inspectors

how to properly inspect a haunted house at our Mega haunt the Hooch..... hundreds of firemen through out the year have come through...

it is a great relationship to get into...and ...it has been a blast to say the least

10-23-2013, 09:25 PM
Look...Sam from Trick R Treat is proudly supporting the Hoochie....

and yeah that was Me that snuck through again the other week Tim....Like I told everyone you have to see it atleast twice...Ive seen it alot more then that and still notice something new everytime I go through

10-26-2013, 05:48 PM
haunted house owners are some of the most creative passionate lucky people in the world....because
we follow our dreams ...how ever crazy and demented that is...we are not the norm...we are a lil different then most people..we are a minority if u will..
but if u ask me..that is just a label...and labels are meant to put minorities in a category...we call ours haunters..but it can be gays..blacks..handicap or just some kid being bullied on the playground..
at Haunted Hoochie we accept everyone as our family ...and we offer love and compassion to all..because we are all in this together...we are all human...

hate is a horrible thing...it blinds us to the truth....it divides us into categories ..makes one country hate another..on down the line to our kids in school..its not right..it causes many of the atrocities in our world today...

Haunted Hoochie is a haunted house..it is my passion.. my artistic expression of what is wrong with society ..and how nature fixes it....its is what i find scary...and has nothing to do with how we feel we should treat each other in real life..its a show..entertainment....

what is wrong with our industry is what is wrong with america..people see the problems but no one stands up and puts there neck out there to do what is right...

what we should all do..is every time we have a chance to stand up for the rights of the weak...we should..and not look for reasons why we shouldn't....
because standing up for what is right..will never let u down..
it is like a rock being thrown upon still waters..it creates ripples ..it creates change...and that is what the Haunted Hoochie proudly stands for..

i love u all...haters and followers alike..we are all one...so lets act like it and not allow the narrow minds of a few distract us from our greatness..

we are the Haunted House Industry

09-19-2014, 09:23 AM
ahh its so good to be back...seriously missed u guys...

i know most of u have probably heard about the work that has gone into this
and in conjunction with our city and our county and our fire district and
after 3 years of development and over a quarter million dollars...
we r finally releasing Armageddon on the unsuspecting public ...
its more insane then we ever anticipated...

in these troubled times of our world today...its not always nice to step back and see what is really going on...
we don't even want to know the truth anymore...we close our eyes...and go about our day....just like good subjects...what have we become...

u wont find that politically correct bullsh@t round here...not at the Hoochie....
still as always ...Reigning Supreme in 2014

so if u haven't made plans to hike out to the Worlds most extreme haunt...get ur ass in gear...

cause u don't wanna miss Armageddon....
let the fire fight begin

Hey Tim,
We wish you a gory good season buddy.
and look forward to all the pics you post

09-19-2014, 12:27 PM
I have to say you guys are NUTS! At some point you guys should turn your haunt into a broadway show. LOL Good luck with your show this year.

09-23-2014, 08:20 PM
Good to be back in the presence of ur greatness gentlemen...

its been back to the grind stone around the hoochie this year...
once again doing what we do best..
breaking the mold
and after so much anticipation...its finally here..

Armageddon at the Haunted Hoochie

but before u check it out..
know that Haunted Hoochie is what i see wrong with this world....
and we support peaceful solutions to conflict...
the Hooch is entertainment

09-25-2014, 07:29 AM
we have been waiting all year like a child waits for Christmas morning..
but its finally here...
the absolute best time of the year

Hoochie time has arrived...

here to wishing all of u the best season ever...

10-01-2014, 11:15 AM
wow ...we r breaking all records..
what an amazing start..
great weather and amazing fans..
thanks to everyone who helped us kick this behemoth off

this is a little off subject...but is anyone interested in certified john Wayne Gacy art ??
i know some of u have museums of all things haunted
i can hook u up for a great price...

10-14-2014, 08:51 PM
i keep meaning to get back here but i never seem to have time to even sleep..
i run our fb page and it is totally insane..
the good side it is totally free..the bad side is time..
hard to keep up with it all..
so here is wishing everyone a great season..
this pic is taken at 1 am on sat night on top of the haunt..
and there is just no where to get a pic of how big the crowd truly is...
we slammed til just after 4 am for the fourth time this year..
already over 30k have already come threw...
three weeks to go....we love our fans...and all of u too

10-15-2014, 04:54 PM
A lot of his art was burned after his death by lethal injection. So his paintings are rare for that fact... there was an outrage that he was selling that art and a bunch of people gathered the majority of them and burned them. There are some websites out there that tell you the prices and values of them. Larry

10-15-2014, 06:37 PM
I read through this whole thread, good stuff! I think I would feel right at home at the hooch!

10-17-2014, 08:50 AM
holy sh@t ..
Armageddon was the project of the century..
we started in march and worked til the end of august on just that..
we did it in conjunction with our city and county and state...yes it was that big of project..
meeting after meeting...everyone was involved..
we simulate live gunfire and it is just plain bad ass...
like nothing ever done in the entertainment industry before..
our own invention..
here we are booming in the helicopter...
it has Gatling guns mounted on the sides and bottom....
they spin and move up down and sideways..shooting 22 shots a second..
then a guy slides open the door and shoots a 50 cal ...
like being air dropped into hell...
the idea is a spin off of fear fairs idea i saw a few years back...been in development ever since...
always raising the bar here at the Hooch

10-20-2014, 04:49 PM
here is all the Ohio fire Marshals
after a day of training at the Haunted Hoochie...

again this year fire marshalls from around the state have learned how to inspect haunted houses at the Hoochie
we are in our fourth year of our new fire inspector
and she is writing a book on and giving classes in fire inspecting..
and where does she spend most of her time ??
thats right ...at the hoochie...
we discuss this industry forwards and backwards..
as haunted houses are her special interest...
cant wait til her book comes out..
we will keep u posted
