If portions of your haunt go to charity it is much easier to get sponsorships

were just going to collect donation and give it to charity, but where not liking charging admission and having it go to charity
You're a home haunt though, right? It's tough to charge admission to that, you start crossing legal boundaries that you probably won't get called on unless you have a really impressive turnout. Taxes, insurance, zoning, fire inspections, it can get messy. Donations work very well, we accept donations to our haunt and a good percentage of people contribute a couple bucks, no one is forcing them to so there's nothing really wrong with it (I think). Saying a portion of your donations will go to charity A could work, it all depends on what you want to do. But if there is one thing that is keeping a lot of home haunts from going pro, it's the legal limitations.
I'm really tired right now, so I could be telling fairy tales, but I don't think it would hurt to check on that just in case.
