View Full Version : Wet looking bench?

I am trying to make a wooden bench top lock slick and wet is there anything that will give wood that sort of finish? I tried a polyerthane gloss finish but it just sunk into the wood. Should I put on multiple coats or is there a better way?

Try smooth-on's clear casting resin.

I agree with Ken, those things should do the trick.
Are you trying to make a nice, finished, glossy furniture piece or are you making a table with random spots of "wetness" to simulate puddles of water, sweat, matter, etc.?

You may be able to look for a "self-leveling" countertop or bar top epoxy.
It's commonly used on wooden restaurant tables, etc. Very shiny and is the equivalent of several coats of varnish. A local craft store may have it.

Several coat of laquer and maybe pool it up at one end to make it look like something just spilled on it?!
