View Full Version : Bad News For Me...

I'm sitting here trying to register for unemployment since a bunch of us at the lumber mill just got laid off... :(
They said because of job skill/seniority they kept a minimum crew...but it's funny since I've never been late or missed a day (other than scheduled vacation time), get along with everyone, have been there the longest of the other 2 that know my job, and also have done it longer, that I was one of the people laid off...they're going to see month by month...but supporting a wife and almost 3 year old I gotta do something...
Could use your prayers in finding something new...Thanks!

Sorry man. Hang in there though. I have a feeling the worst part is over with and the economy should start to get better once Obama gets into office. I am by no means an Obama fan, and am a republican, but he seems to have some good ideas and people are pretty opimistic over him....

I'm sorry to hear that. I hope Dirk is right though... Layoffs are becoming an all too common issue these days.

Hope your fortunes turn around very soon.

I hate to hear that Kirk. Being laid off sucks! I've been there before. Good luck in the job hunting. It will work out in the longrun. My prayers are with you and everyone that is facing a tough time in the job market right now.

Hang in there man! Good luck!

never too late to go back to school... I know several buddies that have been laid off are back at school hoping to land something better than the last job.

My prayers go out for you. I know it sucks, but try to look for a positive in the situation. Job loss is a great time for reevaluations and prioritizing. lots of time to think.
good luck,

Kirk, Allow this change in your life to cause a shift in your consciusness and motivate you to expect and manifest good things forthcoming.!;) Easier said than done, I know, but I'm sending positive and supportive thoughts and energy your way!

Wow! Thanks for the well wishes and prayers!!! :D
Well, I had taken vacation the past two weeks around Christmas and it was my first day back...got laid off...bummer...
But during those two weeks my best friend (who works for Coke) and my father-in-law (works for oil company PGE) told me to try applying to their places of work. I did just for kicks.
I got laid off at 10:15 am today and at 1:15 Coke called (my buddies boss-nice guy, we talked and I told him about my layoff 3 hours prior) and basically I'm going to an interview tomorrow at 10:00 am and he said if my urine test and all goes well (no drugs in system or no bad driving record-it will be fine...no record and I don't drink/smoke/do drugs) I could be hired on the spot to start next week. Since my buddy is one of the company 'superstars' he said and is one of his best employees and we're so alike...I may have the job! :) :D
WOW!!! We're so excited!!!
Now onto the interview!!!

Congrats! 3 hours is a whole lot better than the 6 months I spent looking for a new position. Fortunately I got the call I had been waiting for just in time for New Year's! LOL

That would be awesome if this comes through for you. Fingers crossed for you.

Its nice to have friends in all the right places. I doubt your unine test will pass though... it might come out orange! LOL You'll have hard time explaining that its just because you bleed ORANGE for Halloween.

Good luck!

You will do fine, I'm sure I'm not alone in this belief here among your fellow haunters!

And if doesn't work out, it's on to the next opportunity!
Keep us posted.

Kinda off topic but not really.

A thread like this goes to show how haunters are. Posted 6 hours ago and already into the third page!
Haunters are the most supporting and caring people when it comes to the good stuff.

Most would think differently if they hear the word Haunt/Halloween/creepy/Scary.
Posts like this shows the good hearted side of us all.

dis-mind my pointless post.

01-05-2009, 06:05 PM
Larry-I thought you were going to say 'haunters must be on something since we're so crazy' and that's why I wouldn't pass the urine test...;) I like the orange pee for Halloween...

And it's true! Haunters are awesome people! I do consider you guys my 'haunt family' as I've heard others say and you really have showed your support and made me smile and feel better in a time of need! Thank you all!

Maybe we should post this thread to show how haunters really are in the newspaper? Naaaah! We'll keep it our secret! ;)

Thanks again!

Yup! My October helper's wife sold some of her drug free urine to a friend who really needed a job but the urine test came back saying that he was P.G.!
I am not making this up.
He still got the job with the Circus side show as the incredible pregnant man!
(I just made THAT up.)
Maybe, just maybe, this is still a country that smiles upon honest hard work and desire.
I hope so for your sake and the rest of us too!
