Saturday the 28th: Come for the Screaming at The Darkness (http://www.thedarkness.com/buy_tickets.html ) but stay for the Savings with The HHA Auction!

This is your chance to score all manner of props, services, merchandise, collectibles, costumes, animations and more from the haunted attraction industry's most popular vendors and suppliers.

Keep checking this thread in the weeks ahead, as The HHA reveals some of the fantastic goods and services that will be up for grabs. Sure, I could announce the whole list of stuff right now ... but where's the fun in that?

Let's start with a generous donation from UNIT 70 -- 12 feet tall and looking for a new home. Won't you please adopt this homeless hellspawn?

Awesome Scott! Do you have a time for the auction yet? When we purchased out tickets for the Lights on Tour and the Saturday Tour we weren't given an option for our attendance time. We plan of arriving to the Darkness Tour on Saturday at around 10:00. I'm assuming this will be after the auction and I'm thinking we may need to change our plans. Thanks for the info!

Hello all,

I'm trying to find out what the deal is for the auction. Do you have to be a paying attendee going on a Darkness tour to participate in the auction? I plan on renewing my HHA membership from last season and would like to join in on the auction..

Please advise..

Kel - the auction will be an ongoing thing lasting all night. Most likely we will put a new item up for bid on a regular basis (say every 20 or 30 minutes) -- and we'll make sure everyone knows when certain goods will be up for bid so that you can plan your night accordingly.

Dan - I believe you are able to attend the auction if you are not taking the tour... I should have more specifics about logistics around the building soon.

I start the bid at $1,000.00.

How fun do you think the plain ride homes going to be when I bring this guy on board and sit him down next to me and that fat old lady that thought she was going to sleep on the flight.....LMAO!

Something really really really cool!!!!!!!!!

I have to discuss with Scott and Ben first.

03-15-2009, 06:46 PM
So when will we find out?

03-16-2009, 07:23 AM
It's Monday morning, and that means it's time for the next item announcement... and this one is both highly unique and highly valuable.

Have you ever heard of this guy named ... wait, let me check ... Shane? Does that name sound familiar to anybody?

Shane has made a very generous donation in support of the Haunted House Association, specifically a pair of custom Freddy Kreuger Nikes.

From Shane: "These are the real deal not the knocks offs they are selling on ebay for $140, but the real ones on ebay that are bringing in $1500 to $2500. These were set to be released and everything was set. It seems at the last minute Universal and Wes Craven had a change of mind and backed out after alot had been produced. These are a 91/2 in size. Experts say these will be worth as much as $6,000 in a few years!"

Shane sent along a photo of the shoes below. Check 'em out and make your bids at the HHA Auction!

03-16-2009, 06:51 PM
I had on a pair this past Saturday when I was at Bens! They get alot of attention! Shane and its 1-2 Freddy's coming for you! Shane this time!

03-17-2009, 06:41 AM
Splatter FX (http://www.splatterfx.net/index2.htm) has donated 2 rare Zombie Prop Heads - "Ghastly One" and "The Return"

Bid on 'em at the auction, Saturday night.

Abracadaver will not be exibiting in St. Louis so this will be your only chance to see in person and possibly win this amazing costume by our friends at Abracadaver Productions! Visit their website at http://www.abracadaver.com/Abracadaver/Home.html

03-19-2009, 07:52 AM
With so few days left before the show, and so many great items up for bid, I'm going to start posting multiple listings and items per day now...

Def Star printing: 2 sets for 25 shirts with 1 ink color on 1 side.

Believe me, customers love t-shirts. Check out Def Star's website: http://www.def-star.com/ for examples of their work.

03-21-2009, 07:45 AM
Another day, another fantastic item up for bid at the HHA Auction.

Rogues Hollow is donating a Spookesperson Package to the highest bidder.

What is a spooksperson? Itís an animated talking character that can welcome customers to your haunted house in the form of a queue line video or house introduction! It can also welcome guests to your website and tell them about exciting features in your haunt. Itís like having a virtual spokesperson on your website!

03-21-2009, 10:26 AM
Now that Spooksperson is a really good idea!

I really like that.

03-22-2009, 07:23 AM
Allan Bennett sent me the current summary of all the items up for bid at the auction Saturday night, and it's fairly epic.

There will be nearly 30 items up for bid, representing just about everything a haunted attraction owner could need: from production to promotion to operation.

I'll keep announcing at least one new item a day until Tueday - but make
sure you swing by the HHA booth at the show for the final list of all the items up for donation, all of which were generously donated to us by so many enthusiastic vendors and individual supporters.

Today's item comes from Dental Distortions (http://www.dentaldistortions.com ) who are donating a "Haunt Package" of 5 different sets of teeth 5 styles of teeth for the HHA auction ( 1 Zombie, 1 Wolfen, 1 Pennywise, 1 Ripper and 1 Lucius) -- each of which normally retails for $30 to $40 each)

03-22-2009, 12:09 PM
Next item - Netherworld Graphics. Choose from any one of their impressive array of stock images, and use it in this year's advertising. Retail value is $500 -- and it's up for bid at the HHA Auction Saturday night.

Something amazing from Rich Hanf for the HHA auction... Read on!

After much negotiation, The HHA has come up with something truly unique for Haunters who want to be recognized in a very special way....by appearing in a Horror Novel.

Award winning, best selling author...and President of the Horror Writers Assn. Deborah LeBlanc, has 3 Horror Novels coming out in 2010 and she has agreed to include YOU...YOUR HAUNT...YOUR MORTAL ENEMY...YOU NAME IT...in these highly anticipated novels.

1.....Have your Haunt used as the primary setting in the upcoming horror novel "Cremains" That's right...Almost everybody has been on their local news station...but how many Haunts actually are written about in a published book? These are not self published back of the Enquirer type books...these books are legit and you will be too, as they are written by a much sought after author and published by a major publishing house. Deborah's other novels have been distributed not only here in the States, but in Canada, China, Japan, Bulgaria, Germany, and France to name a few foreign countries...so you will truly be an internationally known haunter....opening bid...$350

2.....Get killed off, or have someone you "Love" get killed off in the upcoming horror novel "Scared Stiff" Oh yeah...this is my favorite. Here's your chance to get the revenge you've always wanted to take, but without the jail time. Imagine using the name of your most troublesome actor, ex wife or husband, competing haunt owner, or some pompus self absorbed haunt consultant and have them horribly killed off in a way you want it done!!! Yes...if killing them off isn't good enough, you actually get to pick the means of death used. The only downside here is that you can only kill off Larry once!!! ....opening bid $200 ...... to kill off Larry opening bid $195.

3....Become the main character who lives a life of raucous sex and bloodthirsty battles in the upcoming horror novel "Nocturn"...you will be featured in the second of 3 novels that comprise this trilogy. What more could any geeky haunter want? Instead of being covered in some combination of monster mud and paint, instead of looking like a Unit 70 prop as you haven't slept in 3 days or bathed in 4.....instead of feeling like death warmed over as your diet consists of McDonalds, cold pizza, and Dunkin Donuts (both coffee and donuts) you actually get to look like some combination of Fabio and Conan the Barbarian as you make your way through a bevy of beautiful large breasted women while on your way to the battlefield of honor where you vanquish all comers...no blood will be spared in this violent and sexy novel......opening bid.....$350

How about that for wild?

Thank you Rich, and Deborah!
