I wasn't familiar with this word until a couple of years ago, I did a video installation for the Memphis College of Art and the artist I worked with had a work titled, The Fecund Series.

OK, so sometimes I'm a little slow, but I found it. You're referring to the merriam-webster site. Lots of word puzzles there! And I saw the 2 fowl ones you were referring to but haven't had time to check them out. Thanks for the info!
