Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin 1969. In 1978 my older sister introduced me into magic tricks. She taught me little tricks from a magic book that was released from Shlitz' (a brewery) souvenir store. Before I could read I was performing magic. My dad would help me read the secret and further help me with the methods. When I was 11 I was doing birthday parties performing slight of hand and tricks for kids and adults.
When I was 20 I built illusions for local magicians in Wisconsin. My dad, a furniture builder and brewery worker, helped me with that too.
Thanks to every magician needing to be different, I began developing original illusions. When I was 25 I had already wrote and published 3 books on original magic illusions. I printed 300 of each and sold out of all of them. I have a fourth but never published it.
Later, after building illusions for professional magicians and contributing works for magic magazines I was asked to work in St. Louis, MO. While there I got a huge eye-opener as to how professionals work.
Before I left the magic community I was a board member of the Houdini Club of Wisconsin and was being consulted by some magicians you see on TV today...and some you no longer see on TV.
I left the magic community when I worked at Netherworld haunted house in 2007. When I saw that place I knew my magic & illusion knowledge could be used in this new medium. Inspired by this new place, I began a drawing book for ideas that I had. This book, known as Andrew's black book is now a published book for haunters. But it is so large that I had to split it up into 2 parts. You can download it here (http://www.epubbud.com/book.php?g=EGQDK8HZ)
Since then my creations have taken me to The Hex House (Oklahoma), The Darkness (Missouri), and I currently co-own Gravensteen (Washington DC).
Forever adding ideas into my haunting black books, Magic & Illusion, and inventing haunt props
I am co-owner of Gravensteen Haunted House in Washington DC
