  • Guts or Intestines

I need to make a lot of them.

We are wanting to reproduce the scene from Seven where the guy had his guts nailed to the wall to make them look like wings.

Any suggestions on how to make a lot of them and long that will not cost a fortune?

not familiar with the movie but you can make intestines easy. Get a metal broom handle and some latex. Cover the entire handle 7 to 10 times with the latex. Allow each layer to dry before applying the next layer. It's ok if you have some clumping, adds to the effect.

After you've applied the layers and allowed them to dry, use some hand lotion on the latex and pull it off. Might take you a couple times to get the hang of it, but it makes some incredible "guts".

tie 1 end and add some fake blood. Looks so cool.

Ha, I do the same thing, but I use electrical conduit instead of a metal broom handle, I also add some of the cheapo fake spiderwebs into the latex to give different textures, and I will also paint them red or pink between layers, I just use spray paint because its encapsulated by the latex anyway. It works great!
Be careful using hand lotion as it may contain petroleum or a petroleum jelly and that eats latex, I would use an oil or wax like Pam or johnsons paste wax.

Just a quick note for strength. Dont forget to add pantyhose after a layer or two of the latex to add strength and durability. it allows them to stretch without tearing usually. Also if you fill it with red dyed cotton balls while taking it off it will add texture and thickness to them.

Should you put some kind of nonsick on the broom handle or conduit?

No need on the conduit, the latex peels off of the metal easy.

I have had a lot of luck taking paper towels and soaking them in water. You then twist them and can make long lines of it and pinch then to the shape you want. Then when dry coat with liquid latex and paint. Don't forget the blood.
