  • "the haunter" (sort of off topic)

This is just for fun. One of my actors and I were talking about through-put and timing the other night. At some point he said "You got to know when to boo them and you got to know when to shoo them", and he instantly realized he had a song parody. So he wrote this song sung to the tune of Kenny Roger's "The Gambler" . Its called "The Haunter". Enjoy....

    On a cold October evening
In house that was long abandoned
I met up with a haunter
He was looking for spooky stuff to keep
So we took turns a digging
Through the rubble for creepy objects
As the wind blew through broken windows
    He began to speak

He said son I've made a life
    Out of scaring people shitless
    Gettin' all inside their heads
And makin' them run and cry
So if you don't mind me speaking
Over the wind and house a creakin'
If you help me carry out this box of stuff
    I'll give you some advice

The box proved to be quite heavy
As we carried it to his chevy
So we stopped to take break
Before lifting it to his trunk
And then he broke the silence
Saying forget the gore and violence
If you want to run a haunt boy
You better learn to run it right

You've got to know when to BOO 'em
    Know when to shoo 'em
    Know when block and act
Know when they need to run
You know they've paid for a top notch scare
So they better be sure to find it there
Because they'll be posting all over Facebook
    When the haunting's done

    Every haunter knows
That the secret to a good scare
    Is picking out your target
When the group goes walking by
    I know it seems outrageous
    But fear is quite contagious
And if you break their strong man
Then whole group will scream and cry

And when when he'd finished speaking
With much moaning and bone creaking
He straightened up and stretched his back
And shut the trunk up tight
I watched as he drove back through the old woods
Before going back to collect my own goods
I knew that the words that he gave me
Were the best finds of the night

You've got to know when to BOO them
    Know when to shoo them
Know just when block and act
And know when they need to run
You know they've paid for a top notch scare
So they better be sure to find it there
Because they will be posting all over Facebook
    When the haunting's done
