Giving up my source..... some times they will drop the prices really really low if they have a butt load. The short throw ones I have picked up did well a few feet away.. getting 8ft pretty easy.

BenQ is a good name brand.
Hey guys...thanks for the tips. Gonna dive into that site today!

Yeah .. I have had extremely good luck with Ben Q and I use them in my other biz world outside of haunting. I just went in and ordered a MX880UST the reflector one cause I couldn't resist the price and its wireless. Tempting is the 4000lum thats throws a 25ft image.. its about $700 under the cost of a new one.... just thinking what I can tell my wife cause I have like 5 in the boxes still.
I bought a little pico projector for projecting spiders on the floor from 7ft. Works great, is really small and easy to hide, and the effect created many screams!
Forget who the manufacturer is but Google PicoProjectors and you will find a few of them out there for about $200
Wonder if they will work for the Maggot & Roach effects that are offered out there? Enough lumens? The projectors will be about 8' away. Anyone know for sure? I really like the size of those l'il devils.

Optoma is the one I am using to shoot a spider video on the floor. It was plenty bright for that effect and worked really well for me. Here are the specifications on it. They show only 20 lumens for brightness but like I said, it is working really well for my effects. The big factor is the ambient lighting in the room. I am using mine in a dark room with no other light, but if you ahve other light in the room it might be an issue.
Two things i like about this little beauty:
1. It is nice and small and cheap, and runs on a battery so if power is lost, it still works
2. You can play video from an SD card that inserts right into the projector.
