Do you have any bigger shots of the walkway thing? That looks pretty nice.

Here's another hack that adds MIDI control (It shows the skulls with the light-up eyes but it would work for the one you linked to as well):

Like physically or electrically?
Here's a small display I did this year to test out some new control software:

If you still want to go the motion detector route for the fogger, here's a mod you can do to one that makes it act just like a switch:

Heh, it's funny that Marky Mark can't shake his Funky Bunch days. Niel Patrick Harris has the same problem. I saw the new Harold and Kumar the other day and when he came on screen a bunch of people...
Matt- Most dimmers use PWM to dim things, which works for diodes too. The LED is just turning on and off really fast, but because of the way our eyes/brains work we perceive lower duty...
Nice work. I can't wait to see your prop.
What kind of dimmer did you hook them to? You should be able to do it without any adverse affects...
It's alive!
Phoenix: Sounds like you're working on some fun stuff. I'm going to have to try out your 7.1 encoder (I'm feeling a little inadequate with 5.1 now :) )
Monster-Tronics: I was a little surprised...
BTW: technically you could power your 8 LEDs with fewer resistors, but this way you can have as few or as many LED/resistor pairs as you want without having to recalculate anything.
Okay, so here's what we know about your LEDs:
Forward Current - 20mA
Forward Voltage - 2.2
If you use a 9v power supply or battery and the LEDs are dropping 2.2v of that, then it means we need...
Ideally you would have a separate resistor for each LED. 9v will drive them all just fine, just make sure to choose the appropriate value resistors (if you post the voltage rating of your LEDs I can...
Hello all. I'm going to be doing a series on how to control things on my blog and I thought it might be helpful to you guys/gals/ghouls. Some of the articles will be really simple and some of them...
I think the "flag" Gore Galore is referring to how when you look inside the LED one lead goes to a larger piece of metal (the one with the die and the reflector cup) than the other one. GG said...
One of the things I noticed about the thatched roofs in Disneyland was that the strands were artificial and hollow. All I could think was "Man, somebody spent an awful lot of time stripping wire...
I like using game level editors to build them first (like UnrealEd or something). The more "serious" design programs work good or even better, but for some reason it's more fun if you can walk...
Do you have any buddies that work in a theatre? Borrow a few ellipsoidals with gobo holders and some different colored gels, and buy a few of these:

How handy are you with a soldering iron? You could cobble something together from the guts of a used fx pedal and some PC speakers. It would be a bit of work but shouldn't cost that much. Just...
I wrote up a how-to for my roof-mounted FCG and thought you guys might be interested:

Make sure you leave the pointer on the sensor for a while before you give up on it. Most of them will not react immediately to ambient light changes so lightning, birds, etc don't make the light...
If anybody is looking for one last project to do before Halloween I made a tutorial on how to turn your doorbell into a squishy eyeball. It's really gross to push/poke, so your TOTs should love it!...
So it's almost Halloween. I'm interested to know what you came up with. Post pictures and stuff!
You can. The first trick is to download it. Go to the YouTube page that contains the video you want, then add "kiss" right before "youtube" in the URL. For example,...
