    Trade shows & conventions

Any problems with the haunt industry certainly isn't due to a lack of trade shows / conventions. It is virtually a cottage industry itself.

    Gotcha Allen...

Thanks for clarifying, Allen. Didn't want to stir anything up, just not in the loop.

Iron Man review from Big Hollywood

Reading the below review, it seems to concur with Larry. I think what Larry meant is not that Tony Stark is not Tony Stark but that the majority of the film is without IRON MAN.

    Maybe...

I always felt kind of a little us and them mentality here, at least as far as HAUNTWORLD and HAUNTED ATTRACTION. I am a little sensitive to things like this, maybe I am misreading everything. But...

    Monster man

Monster Man failed because it was too much bologna. I know the guy personally, and the shop he was working with. The guy was not a monster maker, per se, not a make-up effects guy... he was a foam...

  7. Same here...

I tried to call them a year or two ago and mailbox was full and it was impossible to get ahold of them. I am sure I emailed too with no response. At the time they had changed their name or something...

I don't know that I fully agree with your analysis.

The problem is that Leonard is competing with a giant, well financed show. I think most haunt people just hit Transworld and that's it. It's in a usually consistent location so you don't have to hunt...
  9. Does Cydney still own a haunt?

I don't understand, does Cydney still own a haunt or in some way still relatively associated with the haunt industry?

    Charging for parking... bad idea.

Charging for parking, particularly in this economy, is a bad idea and just adds another reason for people to skip your attraction. Theme parks get away with it because they offer a full day and...

    Nooooo!

I always resented being charged for parking when I am already paying for an event. In my opinion it is a gouge and nothing more. It's like a hidden service fee. Figure out some better way to raise...

Wow, you really want to add dust to things? I know Disney supposedly does in the Haunted Mansion, but honestly, I try to keep things clean and dust free. I don't think dust is really ever good to...

I saw Dead House's trailer designs at Transworld... I thought their design looked pretty darn cool. Correct there wasn't really a lot of places to hide people. but it appears they design/build to...

Since the beginning of time... we know when minimum wages are artificially raised... so the cost of all goods and services are raised to adsorb that cost increase. Minimum wage increase don't happen...
  16. Anyone looking to be part of an existing, large scale haunt?

We might have a scenario that you would be interested in. Email me here.
  17. Close but no cigar, lol

    Kevin,

Beyond The Grave has some nice stuff, certainly better than nothing. I'd prefer the non-comedy tombstone names, but workable. The company I saw at Transworld had totally real looking...

Allan H -- No, it wasn't a dumbbull but nice to know about that. Thanks for that info. I have seen similar devices as a kid with a disposible plastic cup that sounds like a chicken clucking when you...
  19. Tombstones and such -- looking for 2008 (?) Transworld vendor

Does anyone recall a vendor a number of years ago at Chicago Transworld (maybe 2008 ) that sold high-end tombstones and cemetery markers of varying sizes, some quite large. They were very good...

    Netherworld sound maker

Just visited Netherworld and of course was blown away. I heard some kind of mechanism that made a sort of a low pitched groaning sound, almost like a deep bull frog sound. It wasn't a recording, and...

I have a lot of experience with lenses.

Scleral lenses, being much larger, are more difficult to put in and to take out and there is naturally more problems, particularly with fingernails. They...
