Also Cliff, the earlier you pull a latex piece from the mold after it has been cured, the easier it is to pull.

Any mold release will inhibit the absorption of the liquid and keep the latex from getting any thicker than a very thin skin. Because any plaster is absorbent, there will always be a little pullback...

What is the mold made of and what are you casting with?

Also you can use Kryolan Matte finish. It's an acrylic spray that will dull the shine.
