There are hundreds of questions on here just like yours, many of them started after Halloween. The best thing to do would be to just read through those older posts for tips and ideas.

In a nutshell, the best piece of advice anyone can give you is that you have to treat it like a business. I think for many pro haunters, loving Halloween and having the time to actually scare anyone are distant memories.

You should check out the books on http://www.HauntBook.com He covers the business aspect of a haunt very well and this book should really be a must read for anyone thinking of starting a haunted house.
The important thing to remeber is to plan and never give up on it if it is your dream. You may also want to find a pro haunt and help out in it if you have never before you can learn alot by working for other as well.
