  • Anyone make their own pipe organ?

I'm looking to make one for my 3-d haunt. Anyone make their own custome pipe organ, 3-d or not? I'd love to see some pics for inspiration! I see some online that are either really simple or really really elaborate, I'd like something inbetween, and I'm having a hard time finding some examples!
    Thanks
    Justin

Funny enough, yes, we are building one this year. I'd call ours more of a budget organ though, because we found an old piano last season and this year we got the BRILLIANT idea to make it into a pipe organ. Thing is, pipe organs and pianos are NOT one in the same. We started building ours two weeks ago (we generally only work the weekedns) and apparently it's finished now. (I don't know because I wasn't there to help finish it). I started taking progress pics, and come Thursday I will have the finished product pics. The idea was to simply stack/screw PVC to the piano and paint it with a bronze-ish spray paint finish.

      Hi Justin

one piece of advise I can offer. go to thrift stores and grab some cheap plasticy keyboards (0rgans) just for the keys, cause they are a pain to build from scrath

just dry brush them up a bit, to get rid of the plastic look

then build all the crazy evil stuff around them

Thanks guys. I was actually looking on craigslist in the free section and I see a bunch of people looking to get rid of old organs free to the taking. So I might grab a few of these and put them together and build around it and make a big organ!
        Thanks guys

You might want to take a few guys with you. if they are anything like the old stand up pianos you are going to need all the man power you can get to load it. they are heavy.

Thats the bad thing. I have been offered more than one piano for a prop. I just dont feel like a double hernia from the damn thing. If anything just make it look like a piano. Gravely had a great idea with the keys off of keyboards. Im still wanting to make one myself. I love that one of scarefactorys. And if all fails im sure you could contact Jim Warfield on any putting his organ into pipe storys he may have. LOL!

If you look at the photos Midnight Syndicate posted from their video shoot, there was a twisted pipe organ made for that, and I believe material cost was less than $100. Nice thing about haunts is that you can hide a lot with low lighting and make it look cool without making it "complete".

O'Shawn, great job on that piano!!! Looks really good, and we just might do the same thing to ours.

And you're gonna have to post pics of that clock now that you mentioned it.

Wow Shawn!! Amazing!! I am getting ready to faux an old organ up myself. Pictures of the Grandfather clock please!!! Your crew does a fine job. Any chance I can get them to take a vacation out to East Texas? I have plenty of room. My cooking isn't bad either. Looking good!! Keep the pictures coming.

Shawn, Sue is cool, and she's got a great place, but don't let her lie to you!!!

                            The cooking is deadly!!! Lol

when she's not looking, just take a fork full and feed it to the dogs!! They don't mind.

But don't let her catch you doing it!!! Or you just might be that next corpse she was gonna build!!

Thanks guys. CREW is a relative term. It's essentially just myself and Danny (that's his forum name)...he builds most stuff and I make it look good!! haha

                              LMAO BRAD!!!! [duly-noted]

Sue, I'd be happy to take you up on your offer. I'll buy the plane ticket and you take care of the rest

We finished the clock on Sunday however I didn't get any finished pics of it. I snapped a few on my blackberry. I'll get better ones ASAP! It's gonna have an actor pop out of it...fun stuff
