The Boiler Room

Ok so i am remaking the "old" boiler room. But i am runninig into trouble! I want to somehow incorporate steam in the room and i was thinking of using a type of mister they use in the produce section at the grocery store. BUt i have no clue where to find that. Does anyone have any idea on how to generate mist or steam for a reasonable price? Or what that mister is called at the store?

How about a fog machine? Thats what I would do....

i was trying to get the feeling of water spraying on them. but not soak the floors

Using any kind of mist will build up after a while. Just take the fog machine and have it mounted to a main pipe and from that pipe it "T"s off to small pipes or tubes the fog/steam comes out of. I think it will look just like it if it comes out of small tubes or holes.

Any mister will soak the floors. The misters that Grocery stores use are there to soak the vegtables. Look for mister units and you will find them. they dont look like steam unless its very humid or cold. We had that system at Skull kingdom out front.

Focusing on using the fog technique, pipe fog through the large septic pipes. You can bore small holes along the pipe. Add an inline fan that you can but at Home Depot for home heating systems if you have trouble getting the fog all the way through the pipe. Cover the pipe with a cloth sleeve that you paint and scenic. Fog doesn't just billow out the holes, it is difused by the cloth and has the look of steam coming off the pipe.

If you do use some sort of mister in conjuction with a fog effect have it over an area of the floor where you can add some sort of rough walk surface. Maybe a section where you actually have gravel on the floor to avoid a slipping surface. While you might get a bit of a built up, if you control the mist, not just have it run constantly, the audience will actually absorb most of the mist. Add the gravel floor and you should be safe.

You could end up with mold and mildew issues if the area stays damp all season.

We use Edge Design Steam Pipes, https://edgedesignsonline.com/Large_Animated_Stuff.html , in our Carriage House attraction. We have no problem with the floors getting wet at all. The animation uses fog and it's very effective!

Make sure you build some cast iron furnace doors, no boiler room is complete without them!!!
Larry had some real boiler doors in the Darkness. I took pictures of them.

Since there probably has never even been a boiler in Las Vegas, I had no choice but to build.
I have a crematory scene. Casket rolls out of the furnace with a half burnt actor inside.
I had a big space above so I made the doors out of wood, flicker lights behind the penings or vents in te doors,
added a couple old urns (actually flower pots from the Dollar Store with the rim cut off and painted with a patina)and we're good to go.
