  • Weapons In A Pinch!

I wanted to share this one with you guys and gals. We needed a couple Egyptian sickle swords, quickly, for the SpookyWoods commercial that Elswarro came out to shoot. Tony went out and picked up a 4X8 sheet of PVC Foam Board. If I remember it something like $88. I sketched the swords out in white chalk and used a jig saw to cut them out. I traced the handles out, cut two pieces to match and glued them to each side with PVC Cement. I used a grinder to grind the edges and round the handles down. I didn't have any plastic primer so I used some heavy grit sand paper and sanded the entire sword so the brown primer that I did have would grab. I primed the entire sword, taped off the handle and painted the blade silver. I lightly hit the outer part of the flat of the blade with black spray paint then sprayed a Q-tip with silver, repeatedly, and ran it over the sharp of the blade. Lastly I took the same heavy grit sand paper and lightly scuffed the blade to show some of the brown primer and black of the board to just age it a little. Long winded, sorry......
If you haven't, check out the post with some cool stills of the commercial Elswarro sent!

Thanks, we will. We had some cool ideas and so did Jason. I can't wait to see how he brings everything together. Everything was filmed in the day-light so he's got his work cut out for him.

I hope some of you can take something away from the sword creation and make some cool prop weapons!
