  • Need an Opinion on our logo

We're about to approve our final logo and I thought "who better to critique the logo than professional haunters"? So I'd like any and all opinions on this because once we lock it in, we're stuck with it. Don't worry about hurting my feelings -- I didn't do the artwork. Thanks in advance!

1.This is what we're wanting to go with for business cards, letterhead, etc.

    2. This is the image we're wanting to put on T-shirts and such. The main thing I'm looking for here is an opinion of whether or not the A and U are clear enough to make out the word.

    3. This is the other possibility for the T-shirt imagery.

Love the "Haunted" part and the first shirt design. Not much of a fan of the "Ozarks" part... Maybe use the same font and have it larger and under the "Haunted" text?

I have to agree the font that ozarks is using just seem out of place. The A an U are hard to make out but they are in a word that most people know on site so that will not matter much most people's minds will see it. I would experiment with other fonts on the ozarks part. I really like the black and white for the cards though it adds a nilist feeling to it like something poping up out the vast expanse of snowy tundra.

        I like everything just fine

I'm usually a b-i-g critic on most things but not really on this. The only critique I'll give is I like the image of the face, BUT it IS just a little hard to find the a & u in there. I can find it with no problem just because I know it's in there looking at the word. The one without the image of the face is perfect just the way it is.

As far as Ozarks goes, I think a little contrast in font styles is just fine.

Then again, the more I look at the image of the face the MORE I'm beginning to like that just as much! I think I'll probably stand by my first statement though.

          I like the 3rd one.

Just my opinion. Different with the eyes. Very original. Good luck.

The third one is by far the best however I would add a caption to it like...

There is no where to run. Ozarks Scariest Haunted House.

I just made that up but I mean anything under the logo with YOUR WEBSITE address

anyone who doesn't include the website address is not getting the promotional value from anything they do.

I agree the 3rd one is the T shirt. I also agree add your address and a phone number so people can call ahead and book groups. Hope you all the best this season. FXMan.

Thanks for all the comments guys! Haunted Ozarks is our company name, but we'll put on a different show every year. And I do plan on putting our website on EVERYTHING we put out there! Our show this year is called "Descent" and the tagline is: Whatever doesn't kill you...will drive you insane. We just shot a teaser trailer which will launch with our website in a couple of weeks. I appreciate all the well wishes!

I also like the third pic with the face, looking for the A and U may get them to really examine the pic and may stick in there minds longer.

I like the second one. The a and the u are easier to pickup also it adds mystery to the monster looking at you through the letters. Ozarks looks a bit out of place but yet that is a familiar font for the word ozarks. I would stick with it only put some scratchy like likes off of it. Or a lite shadow on the lettering. Its really looking good. Keep it simple. Sometimes thats the best.

The black and white version pop the most to me. It is easier to read and look great!! I like the second version as well. Who designed the logo for you?! I freaking love it.

I will recommend using number 1 in Black & Red instead of B/W.
Also extending the eyebrow to make the U more recognizable.

Changing the 'ozarks' font to something more complementary would help as well.

                        ...hope this helps,

                        Tom.

The guy who is doing this for us just left a major company after doing all their graphic and web design for many years. He just started his own company and we caught him at a good time. He's an extremely gifted artist and he's currently working on our show logo and the poster artwork. He's also doing our website.

Speaking of websites, he talked us out of doing a Flash based website for the simple reason that most cellphones can't use Flash! Good point. Can't wait to see what he comes up with.

If anyone is interested in contacting him, just shoot me a PM and I'll pass his info along. Thanks again for the comments. It's helped a lot!

The problem I see is that you are "preaching to the choir" so to speak. By asking our opinion we all see the word Haunted, we look for that stuff.

To get an worthy evaluation I would take the images and go somewhere where your demographics are, some sort of event or gathering. Stop people and show them the image and ask them what it says or what it conveys. Don't ask them if the see "Haunted Ozarks", don't be there with a Haunted Ozarks T-Shirt.... in other words do not give them ANY kind of hint.

See if THEY see Haunted Ozarks. If people are confused, don't see the words, or see something else, modify your graphics, cool or not, it is not conveying your message.

Just because we like it doesn't help if your audience only sees eyes and not the name of your attraction!! If you still get a small percentage of people confused, do what Larry suggested and put a tag line and the URL under it.

Just like working on a room in the actual show lighting, take the logo to the actual audience and see what they say! Marketing companies do it all the time. If you get a good response, you have a winner!

It's an excellent logo. Choice 2. is what I'd go with for all uses. People see words not the letters in a word, that is to say we don't read like a stock ticker, we see the word and in a split second decide what it is, our brain fills in letters that may be inverted or altered. You don't need to overtly indicate the o and u, people 'see' it in the context of the word.

The artistic treatment of 'haunted' is excellent. The font for 'Ozark' is weak, thinning the weight of the font is okay but that is a cheesy standard font, any block sans serif font would be better.

The 3. choice is too busy in o u eyes, 2. is clean and the art is proportianate.

Fix that ozark font and it's a winner, good job!
