chainsaw pull chord?

this seems to be the ONLY problem i have with the saws.. the chord constantly rips and frays and eventually breaks.. what is the best chord on the market and/or is it possible to change it out for maybe a metal cable?

Ive had great luck shortneing the cords to only about 18" they start faster and easier and with less stress on the cord. shorten it to 24" and see how you like it then 18" however the new crafstmen need 5ft or more or it strips out the pully. Guranteed quick start!!!
