You should be able to buy Pro-Tec pads in the rollerblading section of the large national sporting goods stores (Dick's, All-Star, etc) I ONLY recommend Pro-Tec for the way it holds up. I also buy steel-toed shoes at Wal-Mart. This is one case where cheaper is fine.

I don't understand... This must be on smooth concrete.... Knee pads would stick to standard asphalt.... Lol

Anyone know where to get the materials for spark sliders (not the gloves/pads you can buy, but the actual materials to make your own)?

              Jak,
              http://www.amazon.com/Razor-Spark-Re.../dp/B001PH9J18

These will last a weekend of use, but they are pretty inexpensive. In my second actor training DVD I show making a set of spark gloves out of them, super simple. Great bang for the buck.

We used to bend thin iron bars into a U and duct tape them to our gloves. they worked pretty well for making noise and occasionally sparking.

                      Sliders

                      Greetings~

To Badger in regard to the 6 minute long video~

Ouch !!!!!! as far as the sliding goes. That hurt just lookin at it .. I have bad knees to begin with(was a volleyball payer in High School).. im sure there DEFINATELY a method to doing it correctly so your not TOTALLY "chewin" your knnes up by the ned of the night .. much less a full season.

Question in regard to that tho... at AROUND ( a little bit before) the 3 minute mark.. (right around 2:45)it looks like the slider is drinking from a "gas can" unless I was seeing things.... what was that all about ??? The video "cut" right after that to him doing the sliding again. Im guessing it was more than likely water ..

I cant belive someone could do that all night. It does look like a Hell of a lot of fun tho ... Definately some GREAT reactions from the crowd.

                      Just my thoughts,

                        Slider Gear

We are trying to get our gear all online - but we have developed a new glove that has REPLACEABLE Sparks!

We hope to have it all online soon, but you can contact me regarding price and availability - we have 5 or 6 pairs already made. And we have tested and found the best knee pads, steel etc. Hoped to have it all available for this season but trying to build a haunt, train actors, work a real job etc... got us further behind than we anticipated.

                        Contact me @ todd@connooga.com

And we have video and training aspects coming soon too!

If you go to lowes in the electrical section, there are pieces that fit right over your fingers if you can't bend your own metal. You can glue them right to the finger tips and they work fine. They aren't as heavy but will get you through a season. I think they are called conductors.

A little known fact is that all sliders drink gasoline. Where do you think the sparks come from...?

The knee pads are the most important part. I would highly recommend taking a class in sliding so your actors know all the basics and can do it safely.
