  • Groupon !

I was wondering if anyone else was involved with Groupon this season.

They were featured on ABC Nightline the other night. It is the fastest growing company in internet history, faster than Google and eBay.

The bigger cities are selling tons of these. Our market lately has been selling between 75 - 2000 depending on the offer they have. The smaller value ones with pizza and food seem to do well. I saw Eckerts Farm on the St Louis page sold like 5675 tickets ($16 buy one get one free). These offers are only good for 24 hours.

We are on a Groupon next Thursday, Sept 30, right before we open. We opted for the VIP/Fastpass as the coupon. We might sell out the VIP/Fastpasses with this. It is a discounted ticket and split with Groupon.

The value to a business is not the selling of the Groupon, but in the exposure. If you are in a Groupon city, you should call right now and lock in 2011.

The only down side to this might be selling too many VIP/Fastpasses, but we will deal with it by limiting availabitity at the door each night as we need to.

Anyone else doing a Groupon?? How about another website deal of the day?

        yes, spelling and other items

I am a detail guy and when the artist sent it to me, I didn't catch the mispelling. But he is working on it. LOL

Chcuk, Yes, I saw Shocktoberfest was scheduled yesterday. They sold 418. There was a Corn Maze in another city I saw sold 6000.

The cost question. The business splits 50/50 with Groupon, minus the 1.25% credit card fee. That is a 75% discount so it is not about making miney, it is about exposure. I saw in Denver that Cold Stone reamery sold 10,000 with restrictions that will keep the customers coming, but also get a bunch of new customers. The market we are in, Ft Wayne, has 37,000 people recieving the Groupon every day, so we will be seen by many new people that have never heard of us. And even if they don't buy a Groupon, they will show up as a customer.

Groupon is exploding in popularity amongst the 18-25, tech savvy group...our target audience that has disposable income! Not only that, but people love to brag about saving money, so you can be guaranteed that if you sell 1,000 tickets to your event, your name alone has been exposed to at least 5,000 or so, at no direct cost to you.

Thats what I call a win-win. Jump on it.
I became insane, with long intervals of horrible sanity.
