  • Knee Pads

Hey all, getting my sliding gear ready for when haunt opens... This will be my 3rd year, but i have a question about knee pads.

The past 2 years ive been using Protechs, they worked out ok, i guess. But they keep sliding off, even when im wearing knee gaskets... And the protechs dont slide very well

So ive been told to try smith scabs, do i need knee gaskets for those? Are they better than the Protechs?

    Any other brands you'd recommend?

    thanks in advance,
    Austin

My buddy who slid at the haunt I worked last year uses Scabs. He went through a re-cap or whatever it's called a night, though our scarezone was covered in pretty rough concrete. He swears by them either way though.

I use Pro-Tec exclusively and keep them in place with duct tape wrapped around the top and bottom. Did you buy the pads in a set or separately? The separate packs are slightly better quality.

Is it the pads that aren't sliding well or the quality of the sliding surface? There are some types of asphalt and concrete you can't slide any distance on no matter how good your equipment is...

        Hey Badger,

It is on asphault, but its pretty smooth stuff... I can slide on it easily, but the protechs just seem to slide off alot, and not slide as well as i see others doing it.

I bought the knee pads seperate, it was just the knee pads that i bought.

Does the duct tape really work that well? Ive tried it, and it makes my legs even more sweaty and hot than they already get.

Any more tips would be great.

        thanks,
        Austin

I have never had an issue with duct taping. A couple laps around the entire leg and they stay on most all night.

I don't sweat that bad but then I'm usually not wearing pants that are heavy or lined.

              Hey Badger,

Thanks for the advice, i tried 2 laps of duct tape, and it held for a little while i was practicing... Ill just have to add a couple more and keep the roll with me all night.

              HAHA.

              thanks again,
              Austin

              Fear Asylum,

Most sliders make there own gear. There are website to buy gloves from, but theyre like $300 a pair i believe. I made my glove set for around $30 this year... So home-made stuff is definately alot cheaper...

And from what ive heard, if you make them right, theyre actually better than a $300 pair you can buy online. Went to Knotts Scary Farm last night, and was talking to a couple of there sliders, tons of info.

Ive been doing it 3 years, and everytime i talk to someone i learn something new. Just look at the conversation i had with badger. =]

If you want some more information on how to build the gloves and stuff, just shoot me a PM, ill try and answer your questions as best a i can...

              thanks,
              Austin
