Lights out night

I have heard of other haunts that have done a lights out night with guests using small flashlights or glow sticks. For those of you who have tried this How well did this work for you? Was the response positive? Our actors are all over trying this.

We do this the last night we're open every season, the customers really seem to enjoy this. As a plus, you can promote this event and have customers return that have already been during the season. It's a whole different event with the lights off, be sure to leave your animations on and lit, you always want to show off your high dollar stuff. I prefer using a glow stick over a little flashlight, glow sticks are harder to break than a flashlight, plus you can get cheap glowsticks for .15-.25.

I would definitely advocate the use of glow sticks over flashlights.... they can not be "aimed" and probed into corners or actors eyes. Plus the unearthly glow and cocoon of light really ratchets up the fear factor to previously unheard of levels.

I recommend following up with your insurance company to ensure that this doesn't change anything as far as their ability to cover you on those particular nights. From their viewpoint this could be a larger liability with increased hazards. Happy haunting!

I've gone through Woods of Terror in Greensboro like this. It really is like going through a whole new haunt, especially since this one is outside. I liked it...

I've heard of this being done. I really want to try it, but give the guests a "Flash Fright" so the actors can control when the flash lights are on & off.

I thought Flash Fright sounds perfect for this too, but that's a lot of investment for one night.

Dollar tree has 1 dollar flashlights that are rubber coated and take 2 AA batteries. This is what we give most of our actors accepting that a percent will get lost or broken. Our trained actors and supervisors all keep more sturdy flashlights on them. If you draw in bigger crowds but lose a dollar a ticket, might be worth it, depends on your numbers.
