  • Sideshow question?

Have you ever have any issues with groups or people being upset with sideshow items. Like real skulls, taxidermy weird things… I’m wondering if I should go with real or fake stuff..

    Any suggestions..

We did a side show this year and pulled out a bunch of our wierd stuff. We did have a real human skull along with 20 authentic animal skulls. There was also a mix of fake gaffs and other unusual stuff. Nobody was offended by the real items. They actually increased intrest when they knew they were looking at the real deal. So I say go for it and really highlight the authentic items

        sideshow

with actual sideshows in decline how about hiring sideshow performers as well as props to feature? I know the lobster boy's family is always looking for work and bat boy is doing the fair circuit. Of course this could kill your budget but would def give your place a cool vibe

I’m planning on starting off with a couple cabinets of curiosity. It all works well with my theme for the next couple years. Most recent addition a petrified spider web. Very Cool!

          Ill take pics once in!

            I never knew that!

You can actually get skulls that aren't real?
This info will save me alot of work. where do you get those?
The hard part now will be how do I break the news to my skulls that they will have to train plastic ones , who will eventually be taking their place?
Maybe I should make a training video to show my new plastic skulls. Repition works in teaching/learning, maybe just my voice saying "Think boney. think boney, think boney."
Might work. Of course if this might work I could compete with Viagra for their business base.
(If you can't stop thinking boney after 4 hours.........don't call me. Turn off the video!)

              we had

We had the sideshows sold by haunted enterprises...the fiji mermaid and chupacabra...this last season and it was actually a huge hit! People wanted their pictures taken with them too! great publicity having sideshow items...especially if you can have old sideshow banners as well...

Real old banners are so much $. I found a couple artists that do that style of painting to make custom ones.

                Thanks everyone!

We just had our banners printed on vinyl...a lot cheaper that way!

When it comes to side show props I prefer to use fake. Real items mean that they are some times a bit more fragile to use. Not all things are like this but some are. The people most of the time that you are entertaining are not going to be that close so they most of the time won't even know the difference. I have only known one time that some one was used for prop usage and oddly enough it was PETTA !! I know right, thats the last name you expect to get sued by in this industry. Apparently one year there was some thing about two alter boys decapatating a deers head and rejoicing in its bounty of blood. Even I looked at the pic (that I now wish I still had to show) and thought that it was crazy with gore . Well at the end of it all it turned out the deer head was a prop and PETA just looked dumb.
