ripley's haunted adventure

What do you guys think about the ripley's haunted adventure. I have been 5-6 times to the one in SC It dont seem to change much But I was wondering what yall think about it.

Have any of you worked there?

I have been through the same one in Myrtle Beach there on the strip, I don't know if it was just a bad night and some people called in sick, but there was only one actor out on the street and when we went in I think I only saw about 2 more actors in the entire haunt. I wasn't very impressed. There used to be another one on the strip that was actually pretty good, but it closed down with everything else down there. It almost seemed like the old traveling haunted houses that come to fairs and you trip a motion sensor and the red light comes on and makes a noise and then you walk out while the carney puts your dollar in his pocket. haha

A friend of mine actually used to work in that 'other' haunt on the Myrtle Beach Strip and told me plenty of stories about how some days he was the only person working there. they had some creative ways for getting around between scenes

I've been twice...non-consecutive years and they both STUNK! There was the guy selling tickets, one taking tickets at the que, one in the elevator and MAYBE two more actually working the haunt (one doing the chainsaw) but for all I know, that could've been the same actor switching costumes and doing a crappy job at acting! For all the hype behind the "Ripley" name and such great backstory/detail done to the attraction, the inside was quite the let down. I like the fact you get in a shoddy elevator and travel up 3 stories and make your way down, but it was honestly just a huge letdown.

...as for the OTHER haunt that sits on the same side as the Ripley's haunt but on the opposing corner...

Nightmare Haunted House -- I was very leery about approaching that haunt because it looked VERY cheesy. The props hanging outside looked as if they were from the local Party City and it never had a wrap around line like Ripley's. The first year I went to Myrtle Beach we skipped over it but last summer I actually forked over $8 to enter. There were only 2 actors, but let me tell you, they had a whole lot of INTENSITY! Plus one guy was wielding a real metal blade that got within inches of us. I liked how they gave you a mission and a time frame to "escape" before they started splitting up groups by closing trap doors. Long story short, Nightmare was well worth the price and they put on a great show.

...further proves that just because you have "millions of dollars" as Ripley's claims doesn't mean your show will be kick ass! haha -- they have potential, they just need to utilize their assets better.

I had experienced the Ripley haunt in San Antonio Tx while stationed at Ft. Sam Houston. It was immaculate from the outside. You’re actually loaded into a industrial looking cart and travel up a 45 degree track into the darkness of the second floor. It's based around the story of a old time funeral home, guide and all but quickly drops off in quality which it tries making up for with darkness. The one very good effect I've only seen here is a narrow plank effect, you walk across a narrow board with either plexi glass or some mix of hardener and resin acrylic sheet on each side. I remember there only being maybe 2 actors which were young and un-intimidating. Lots of money, little motivation for creating and operating a effective haunted house.

"You have a really fantastic haunted house!"

"I was at Myrtle Beach, golfing, and we went to a haunt there , we paid $7 or $8 bucks admission, a guy said, "Don't touch anything!" Pointed down a dark hallway...someone was banging on the other side of the wall with pots and pans, a chain rattled... and then we stepped out into the daylight.. IT WAS OVER!!????"
"I'll never go back there again.'
Do they need return business in a busy tourist town? Maybe not?

hahaha...I tried to touch and take pics of the entrance when we went and the guy was a REAL jerk & did yell "Don't touch anything!" at us also but I didn't know if that was part of his character or if he was serious. Our experience was decent.

I've been to the one in Gatlinburg, Tennessee a couple of times. It was the same every time. There was 1 actor at the end with a chainsaw. They said they have more actors during October.

I wonder if its a lack of actors or the co. wont pay for more than 1 or 2 per shift.
