Sunday came along way too soon. Before I knew it I was saying dozens of happy goodbyes all about the showroom floor. Jeff and I left St. Louis in the early afternoon and arrived in Cleveburg around 1 AM.

Without exception, every haunter and vendor that I spoke to told me that they had a successful season in 2010. Haunted attractions, like the movies, usually do just fine every year - no matter what the rest of the world’s economy is up to. People, it seems, will always scrimp a little here and there to have a couple of hours of fun some weekend night every once in a while.
What also might have influenced their attitudes is that the weather was lovely in October, 2010. Temperatures stayed above average all month here in Ohio. It only rained on one evening of my visits to 9 Ohio haunted spook houses. At a triple-haunt known as The Carnival of Horrors in Akron the rain was so light that it was more of a mist than a drizzle - not a show-stopper. Perhaps climate change is a good thing for the haunt industry. Time will tell.
Weather, in my experience, has never been the root cause of an unsuccessful haunted attraction. What customers long to gaze upon are the weirdest people you can possibly get your hands on.

This year I had tickets for free drinks that I could never use. There were far more social events than a body could ever attend. The crowds on the show floor were happy and enthralled. Could it be anything other than TransWorld?
