Just an aside...shortly before the billy puppet head from saw is seen on the chalk board there is a wide shot of the board and James Wan's name is written on the board as well. It is really quick, but I think it was a list of detentions or something like that.

All in all, I thought it was a great movie full of suspense and lots of startle scares. A+

So, we can we expect to be hearing this song play in 95% of the haunts this season??? I sure hope not!

When the lead female in her new home takes out the trash and the music suddenly changes, and through the window she sees that man dancing vigorously, then the next window he wasn't there. It was simple but I think it's the fact that the guy wasn't trying to be scary but it just really felt disturbing to me. Also, all the scenes the Dad experienced in the "other" world were also disturbing, with the family in the living room, etc....

Oh my GOD!! That WAS truly the most disturbing part of the whole entire movie!!! I swear they use that song in the spongebob tv show cause that's what I kept thinking of when I heard it.

...but the little boy dancing was just soooo weird. It was the mix of his old fashion clothes + the little "jig" he was doing + that song selection. *shudders*

...not to get off track, but I just google'd it since Tyler was so gracious enough to post the youtube vid & a different "Tiny Tim" song is in fact used in the Spongebob show! hahaha

But yes, that song is now really disturbing...and I WILL be using it in our show this year at some point...possibly with a tiny dancing man?!

Oh, so that was a little boy in there dancing, I guess that does make sense now. Cool and creepy effect the dance and clothing, ne of the more memorable scenes for me.

For some of you haunters who've been around for a while, do you remember back in the 90's when Tiny Tim got married on The Tonight Show at the old Spookywoods? Major PR for Dave Bertolino back then...

That song was perfect for that scene, so disturbing. I liked how they didn't over-show the main demon either, sticks to how horror movies should be, doesn't get you used to how he looks. The scene with the family on the couch was creepy as well, I can't get over that girl's expression... so utterly creepy.

I liked it and it definitely has the startle scares freak 'n' stein mentioned. I'm not sure about it being the best horror movie in years like others, but I did like it a lot. Caught both the easter eggs mentioned too so thanks for the tip. I thought Leigh Wanell or whatever his name is and that other ghost hunter guy were hilarious. A little strange to start in with humor in an otherwise serious movie up to that point, but I think it worked and shows the movie doesn't take itself too seriously.

I felt really horrible for Happy Gilmore when his grandma got killed. Or was that Roy Munson's apartment manager lady? Reminds me of both and either way, sad.

Saw it the other night and must admit it got me quite a few times! I thought the overall concept was extremely similar to Paranormal Activity (Both I & II) but I like the things they added to the story. The fact that they actually showed the demon/bad guys was a great addition (Apposed to PA where you were left guessing what it was/looked like)

I'm still waiting to see that Red Face guy watching me through my bedroom window. O_O

And as far as the music goes, I love old fashioned songs like the one they used simply because they are completely misplaced in a horror movie or haunted house. I remember going to Greg's haunt Fearfest for the Columbia Haunt tour and he had "It's a Wonderful World" playing in his asylum haunt and I though it was AWESOME. Same goes for "Sprout and the Bean" and "Quick Silver Girl" from The Strangers... Happy-go-lucky songs turned terrifying due to a horror movie.

                      Gotta love it!

"It's a Wonderful World" coupled with the Ayslum was PERFECT!!!...I asked if the actors at Fearfest were really from a different country cause their accents/acting were so SPOT ON!! okay...enough rambling about how awesome Fearfest was...back to this thread!!! haha

                          Damn that was good!

I persuaded my brother to go see this last night and all I can say is holy s$@#. They did a VERY good job on that movie. With all the dime a dozen horror and haunted movies out today, especially PG13 ones I definitely agree it's one of the best I'd seen in a long time. I'll admit there were some seriously creepy parts and I jumped more than once. haha.

So I finally saw this movie. It was good and I would absolutely recommend it to horror fans, but it definitely has it's flaws.

                            SPOILERS....
                            .....
                            ....
                            ...
                            ..
                            .

The first half of the movie was great... perfect scares and pacing. The second half of the movie just goes a bit off the deep end. Too much hammy humor with the ghost hunters, too much explanation of EVERYTHING (and you see every single ghost - ruins the mystique), and "the further" scenes almost reminded me of Beetlejuice. I was waiting for the father to run into his case worker, Juno. I also liked the similarities to Poltergeist... but that movie ended up a lot scarier because you never actually saw inside the demonic dimension.

Insidious goes from a very scary first hour, to an almost cartoony finale.

I would still recommend it... but as far as recent scary movies, Paranormal Activity left me feeling a lot more paranoid when I tried to go to sleep.
