The thing that surprised me is they did not even make a LIFE CAST. They scuplted it! Great Job!

I saw this a few weeks ago. Way to go Rusty!! It was kinda cool seeing a small "how it's made"...

          Mythbusters

          Greetings all ~

I just seen this episode the other day .. and I was actually going to post something about it here ..in case any one didn't see or know about it..

I liked it to be honest .. it was cool to see a bit of the actual "construction" of the masks .. and equally the fact that they (SPFX) hand sculpted rather than life casts for the molds was interesting..

Just goes to show .. that what people see .. or THINK THEY SEE.. is all about the persons (receiver's/victims) perception i.e. distance , vocal cues, etc. ... AND the senders (actor's) ability to portray the character they want to be ...

But I will say those masks were AWESOME honestly with out the voice i think i would have been fooled .. matter of fact i had a discussion with the co owner and a few staff members that have seen that episode .. and it ended up as a very enjoyable and learning/teaching conversation for all of us .

I ordered the "elder" mask. Luckily I did so prior to the episode being aired as I assume they have been overwhelmed with orders since. I must say, the mask is off the charts realistic. I fooled my three children as well as a close co-worker. I've seen alot of negative issues with regard to spfx, I had absolutely no issues. They told me 6-10 weeks and I got it within that time frame. Fine company as far as I'm concerned. I hope to get a mask from CFX in the near future also.

Did anyone see the 'After Show' episode that they aired on their website? Jaime and Adam bluntly said they were not happy with the final product and would like to do it again having a 'professional' make them masks with their own fancy technology. They did commend SPFX and mention that they have to be constructed that way for commercial business purposes, though.

                Wow! Your kidding!

I have to check it out.

It was not exact..... but pretty close.

I thought it would have been more correct and faster, doing a life cast.

Not sure why they chose to sculpted it.
