  • Submitting paranormal ideas to TV.

I have an idea for a paranormal tv show that would fit in great with say a SYFY station but i've read that they don't take any ideas from just any normal ol joe and you'd have to go through an agent. Anyone ever try to submit a tv show idea before? Any info on how i can go about doing this would be greatly appreciated.

If your idea is good enough that you can actually put to tape, I'd find a crew to help you create a pilot. Maybe find a small, local production company or recruit some film students from your local university. Once you have a a good pilot written, shot, and edited, then it might be easier to get in the door of a decent agent and pitch him the show.

The best thing to do is to put together a pilot. Once you have that and a treatment for the show, you can start shopping it around to production / distribution companies or you can shop it directly to networks with representation. But if you don't have a pilot and possibly a few episodes ready to go, your chances are zero in getting any kind of deal. You have to have something to show them.

A few years back some friends and I used to make a show on public access. We wanted to shop it around but part of our problem was we were afraid of our ideas being stolen. It is very difficult to get someone to seriously look at your ideas.
