Why have I never thought of the tunnel idea?

It's an awesome and intuitive idea, you could do so much with it and yet it seems that you have done so little with it. I would definitely emphasise the tunnel, maybe have things hanging from it.

Terror of The Towers is a live attraction at Alton Towers during the Halloween season, they had this sort of "Butcher" concept and they had cotton bags that had been stained with fake blood, they also made them slightly moist and added a bit of weight to them. Along with that they had an actor or 2 in amongst them. I would definitely suggest doing something like this with your tunnel.

Congratulations on the Home Haunt, I still have to get my own place so I can host one

Also, if you are considering hosting this year, I'd be happy to help with technology any way I can (I live in the UK so it's a little hard to get over to you :P)
