  • Greyland or Merlinsltd Masks?

I've found two websites that are selling foam latex masks that, apparently, will adhere to your face the same way a silicone mask will, but for a significantly lower price. These websites are Greyland Films (http://www.greylandfilm.com/) and Merlinsltd (http://www.merlinsltd.com/epages/620...real%20face%22). I'd like to buy one of these masks, but first I want to know if anyone here has had any prior experience with them. If so, which mask do you have, and are they worth buying? Do they really move with your face like they advertise?

Foam latex has much less stretch than silicone- and less tensile strength they are in my opinion not durable enough for the industry They rip.
Faom latex also harbors bacteria just like a kitchen sponge
Also because there is less stretch it doesent fit as many people as a silicone mask it is more likely to be baggy or pucker or rip.
It looks like they are around $80+ after conversion and shipping That isint a bad price so you might want to buy a few and test the waters yourself. I have never gotten more than a season (or even a whole season) out of a foam latex mask.

Thanks, Allen! I've looked up a couple of videos on youtube for these masks, and they do appear to be adept at mimicking facial expressions, but if you say that they're really not that durable (not to mention unhealthy) then I think I'll pass.

There are a couple companies that sell Silicone Half-Masks , which are not as pricey as full head silicone:

        http://blackwallmasks.com
        and
        http://1313fxfrightzone.com/

Throw a wig or cowl over them and you'll never know the difference.
I love the greyland sculpts though , but as much as I sweat in a silicone mask I'd hate to see how soggy a foam latex one would get

Thanks, Siliconeskull! The ones from Blackwall are still a tad pricey for me, but I REALLY like the ones from 1313Frightzone! Do you have any experiences with them? If so, how well do they mimic face movements?

Blackwall has great service , and they are very well made masks,
not many sculpts just yet, but keep an eye on them.

I just found out about 1313fx from this forum the other day , but I ordered a mask
and they are quite friendly and are doing some custom paint and adjustments to one for me.
Have to wait til I get it in.
