I just got an email from google yesterday about something called +1. Is this the same thing or something different. The email said +1 was similar to liking something on Facebook.

There are two separate things. If you go do a search on Google, you can +1 next to the title. Basically, this tells google you "Like" it (Google's Version of Facebook Like) and in the future, your search results will find similar things and push them to the top of your results.

This Google+ is a new social network they've created to compete against Facebook. Some people like it, some don't, but I always say it's good for you to check out the new stuff. If it takes off and people start using it, then your already in and know how to use it to help promote your haunt.

Hey Guys, Google has temporarily suspended invites due to it being so popular trying to get people into it. As soon as I can send invites, I'll send them off to everyone listed here in the thread.

Should a "plus one" button link to your google page? To your website url? I'm slightly confused on how exactly to utilize this. We already have a button linking to our google page... now I need to include another google button?

                          Hey Novus,

There's a little bit of confusion and I can understand why. These are two separate products with basically almost the same name. I'll try to help you understand it.

If you have a google account, you can now have a Google+ profile which is Google's version of Facebook. You can create a profile, follow what your friends are doing, and put them into "Circles" which is basically a version of Facebook "List". For example, I have my friends and associates from the Film and Game industry in circles "Game Industry" or "Film Industry", while I have my friends from the Haunt Industry in a "Haunt Industry" circle. This way, I can simply click the circle and see what's going on with my friends in a certain industry quickly. There's also some other cool little features like "Hangout" which is basically a multi-cam video chat room. You can create a "Hangout" and your friends can join it and you can do voice and video chat with them. I understand that Facebook is going to be releasing something soon that's similar, but Google beat them to this one.

The other product Google is pushing is called +1. This is basically for those Google users that want to customize their search results to more customized content vs regular search results. So if your at a website, and you see a +1 button, you can click that button and your future search results will pull similar content and push it to the top. You can see an example of it running on my website at hauntersdigest.com. We have integrated the Facebook Like, Twitter, and the Google +1 to each of the articles we publish. This way, if you like something and +1 it, next time you visit Google and search for something, similar content to the stuff you liked with us will be pushed to the top of your results. Also, with your friends using Google+, and if your connected or "in a circle", if they were to +1 something, then when you do a search for something, you would see your friends that "+1" that article. You just have to remember it's basically the Facebook Like button integrated directly into Google Search now.

If anything else is still confusing, let me know.
