Roll-on walls

I am staying in a hotel while I am writing this and here in the kitchen area is vinyl flooring.

From examining the edges I noticed that the floor was a solid roll.

So I figure if you look at the second picture, that the same roll-on flooring could be used on haunters walls. From googling 'vinyl flooring' I found many different kinds of wood styles. Each of them are self-adhesive.

I am not sure on the prices but if you look around you might find some good deals. Maybe someone has tried this before using shelf paper on the walls? It seems like a great little time saver to me.
