Body Bag Help

I'm working on a scene this year where I want lots of body bags hanging for the guests to walk through. I don't want the clear plastic, meat locker ones though. I'm looking for something more along the lines of the body bag in this picture http://blastr.com/assets_c/2009/09/F...x370-23924.jpg. Just not that big.

I'm just trying to find a bag/sack that will work for it. I am not looking for something full body size because the bodies will supposedly have been hacked up first, then all the body parts put into the bag. So something as small as 40" long would be fine, any bigger would work too though.

So in summary, I need some help finding:

The sack to use and the filler to make it feel like body parts inside (since they won't actually be able to see through it). Then I will soak the bag in blood. I am looking for a more inexpensive route, if there is one.

I have looked into burlap sacks, and the cheapest resource I have found is for a 24"x 40" bag (12 pack) for 40 bucks plus $15 shipping. Just seeing if anyone has any better ideas (I am open to different kinds of materials, not just burlap).

It might be cheaper to find inexpensive canvas and sew it into a bag. It will show soaked blood quite nicely. For that matter, maybe go to good will.thrift store and get sheets?
From the picture, it looks like you're looking for sacks more than bags, so maybe these options would work?

I am looking for a bit more of a fabric type material, like Katie said. But unfortunately I have no sewing skills, although I do know people who do, so I could get their help.

Anyone have any ideas for good fillers?

I completely missed the link, sorry. Thats a sleeping bag. Hmmm....
No need to sew if you have a hot glue gun, it works wonders for fabric as long as you dont put it in the dryer.
OOOHHH OH OH..... This is a job for...beef netting! It comes in a tube so all you need to do is seal one end.
I think a ten or even five pound roll will do you.

I think this will work, if the beef netting wont work, then something at trenton mills will work Im sure, just peruse their site.
Im thinking on your filler, will they be able to touch the bags?

Guests will be walking through the body bags so they'll be touching them I'm sure. They will be hung throughout the room.

I get really cheap king size painter's white and beige drop sheets under $2.00 at our thrift shop from time to time.
I glue gun when I can't access a sewing machine, but I think you will need someone to sew for you. We discussed this same topic last year at one of our haunt meetings and it was suggested making body parts from straw and string for inside our burlap body bags. Blood soaked hair coming out of the top.

I think we are going to go with the burlap sacks, they will probably have the best look for what we are going for. I think I want a filler that has a bit more weight though for realism, but not ridiculously heavy. What about padded PVC pipe in sections that resemble legs and arms?

You might consider a clothes bag/ duffle bag. Since you stated you didn't want a full body bag size but a bag where they were just using for the "parts". Since it is near back to school time you should be able to find large duffle/clothes bags for college students to bring home laundry in!!! WalMart, Target all carry them. I have even seen some at the dollar store, just may not be as sturdy.

If you decide you do want the full body bag size then the other suggests will work fine.

I think Allens suggestion should work for you. FYI you get bonus stuff!!! Since these are real they come with the paperwork kit and toe tags inside which you wont get with cheap imitations

I like the real body bag idea, but it doesn't really fit our theme. I did happen to find a couple burlap sacks today, so I am going to try out some different fillers with them, see what I can come up with. I want to have tons of them in the scene, hung at different heights, and soaked in blood. I will do some tests, and see what gives me the best look. I'll share what I come up with when I'm done.

The army style bag works for teh hanging body bag type things.

Sorry, I've been MIA for a bit and didn't read this until today.

A cheap alternative might be deer bags. They use them to protect deer from insects and such and are reasonable in price and you can't see thru them. They are kinda like a sock terry type stretchy material and soak up blood like nobody's business.

Also, as for stuffing...house insulation! Already fire retardant and cheap, sometimes free!!! And light enough in color to look like flesh if needed!!!
