UL has strict requirements on product safety --- you need a factory to build your products, it can't be home made. The materials used in the product must also be UL recognized components. You submit your products to UL's engineers and they run a series of lab tests to determine its safety rating, pay $$$ for the certification and annual maintenance costs. Once the report is generate, you need a factory follow up inspection to show them what they tested for the report is indeed what's on your assembly line.

You won't find too many vendors in the haunt industry with UL listed products --- but if you enter the themed attraction industry, many of your customers require UL on the full system, not just the power supplies.
