So to do this thing, you have to download their toolbar (which displays random text "one-liner" ads from other people's websites). Every time you surf and view ads in their toolbar, you rack up "points" that eventually get your website's text ad to appear in other people's browser toolbar?

How does this send "targeted traffic" to your website? It's not targeted, it's completely random. The only people who will even see your add, much less click on the link, are others who have downloaded the "Instant Buzz" toolbar.

Here is some info I pulled off their site:

You are charged 1 credit for each ad you show.
So that means that I would have to view 10 of their ads, for the potential of my ad being seen once, by one person, who may not even click on it anyway? It doesn't sound that effective to me. I'd have to stay online surfing 24/7 to see a handful of people visit my site, as a result. I just don't have that much time on my hands.

Gary, I love you as a friend, man. But Instant Buzz is a nightmare on your computer you do NOT want.

        http://www.spywareremove.com/removeInstantBuzz.html
Instant Buzz is a toolbar associated with an adware pyramid scheme. Once Instant Buzz is installed on your computer, it will deliver annoying targeted adverts to your computer. Additionally, the Instant Buzz toolbar will connect silently to its parent servers and transmit your Internet usage statistics and other personal data.

Besides, when you advertise with such a program, you will turn people OFF to your product. Counter productive.

Best bet is still the established haunt websites for listings, LOCAL city and state websites that are the pulse of the community, tying in with sponsors that can help promote in their own advertising chain, and having the media of newspapers and TV and radio advertisements to drive traffic to your haunt website.

Least that is my own IMHO.
The word for the day is NPD. Check it out.
