how many run promotions to get people in?

I've seen a few places running promos where you get there early to have a chance to enter various prize drawings. Does anyone here do these to lure people in early in the night or on slow weekends?

Last Year we had our local game stop give us nintendo DS at company cost not retail. to give away, but we found it really didnt effect numbers at all really

One of the haunts here is doing a $300 drawing on Halloween night. It will be interesting to see how that goes.

I suppose the customers got a little suspicious with that give-away when the owner of the haunt kept winning it, night after night.
