Best Advertising Practices

What has been your best source, form of advertising your haunt? What did not work for you?

Hand painted wooden approx 4ft X 2ft sandwich board signs, painted on both sides ( I painted 16 boards in January) placed on grassy islands at popular traffic stop lights and near high schools. People told me they catch your eye.
Our attendance doubled from last year and we are a 4 year old haunt. I think it may have been the 8 new signs.

See this depends where you are. Sandwich boards aren't possible in metro areas where buses are a simple pick. Radio is probably your best bet

We have a wonderful local radio station that is providing us with lots of free coverage. Hmmm maybe it's the radio and not the sandwich boards!
