Just visited Netherworld and of course was blown away. I heard some kind of mechanism that made a sort of a low pitched groaning sound, almost like a deep bull frog sound. It wasn't a recording, and the device was behind a metal screen built into the wall. Maybe air powered? Any ideas on what it is and who makes it?

It was probably an old Fright Props Air cannon, the type that had a mechanical vibrating cannister attached. Don't know if they still make it, they have similar things that have electrical controls for the blasts. It could be subwoofers you were hearing as well, or maybe even a Monstertronics fear generator... We have lots of stuff.
Thanks!

Just because I've been the past 3 years, and have heard it all three times, I'm gonna go with the fear generator...that was my first thought when I heard it!! It was in one of the hallways leading to/from the "outdoor" area right?O'Shawn McClendon

Those Scary Sounds...
Like a muffled sound of a whole room full of people, talking, laughing some music playing in the backround.... all coming from the other side of the wall at 2Am. I walk over there....nothing.. nobody.
A loud male voice calling me by name="JIM!" as I was about to leave the wine cellar, lights on, nobody there.
Five years ago Three of us were in the wine cell, two young women and myself... "Do you have speakers in the house?"
I smiled, that meant she heard it too.. "Yes, we do have speakers in the house , cheap-tinny speakers and I like it that way, that way we know what we are hearing."
All three of us had just heard a beautiful female voice singing like an opera singer for maybe just 6 to 7 seconds, the voice seemed to be coming from the 12 foot high stone arched ceiling, I looked at my watch it was 1:55Am.
These are what haunted sounds may sound like.... when you have no speakers, no sound system, no devices making noises.
I guess I'm a pretty lazy guy to buy a haunted house.. to make it into a haunted house (Old definition)

Thanks all!
Allan H -- No, it wasn't a dumbbull but nice to know about that. Thanks for that info. I have seen similar devices as a kid with a disposible plastic cup that sounds like a chicken clucking when you stroke the string. I just helped my son build a similar item with a plastic cup, and a very soft, large spring, string and a cardboard mailing tube. I attached the spring to the bottom of the cup, the cup acting like a speaker. I attached a spring to the other end of the spring and stretched spring out, inserting string through hole in shipping tube cap. If you talk into the plastic it creates an echo chamber. If you shake the device and the spring hits the side it make a sound like a Star Wars laser gun. If you pluck the string coming out the other side it make a 50's sci-fi "blip" sound like the ID Monster in Forbidden Planet.
Ben-- Thanks for chiming in. The sound has a very organic sound to it and not a recording or electronic effect. It just cuts through the room. Maybe the Fright Prop Air Cannon. Whatever it is it's very eerie.
Freak 'N" Stein -- That's exactly where it is located, it had a kind of flat black screen with square holes over it I think.
