yeah dark..i was puttin my own spin on their lyrics...
if your not paving the way then your just following the herd...
was my point..
the fact is the old hooch is truly not well documented...
i am amazed at how much we just took for granted...
for example we were carving foam mausoleums and facades with hardly a pic to be found in my collection..
like video of the talking tree in action...
or this great effect where we had this huge monster that lifted the roof off the building and reached in at the patrons with a huge hand....not one pic...uugh
we still have the head ...
we use now use in bad trip in 3d but no pics or video of the kick ass effect of having a monster looking in and reaching at your group.....
at least not that has been uncovered yet...
and soo many more simple ideas and effects that didnt seem so revolutionary ..
until a vendor is selling them in chicago... omg...
we all evolve and back then i was too wrapped up in creating and not enough of taking pics and video...
now days i may take 100 pics to get that perfect pic to present to the public...
its a testament of my evilution that i will even show off old pics here on hauntworld....
i am always concerned about how i represent my passion...my art
and those old day pics just don't live up to my current standards...
but i am only here to show off to my peers...
stir up some ideas for others to use....
and show where some of these creations originated...
for us anyways...cause like i said before we just didnt have anyway to gauge what other haunts were doing...
we were flying without a map so to speak....
which if you ask me is where the magic happens...
its not wondering what the next big movement for the industry is ...
its just following your own passion...
look at any of the great haunts...
you could say Ben Armstrongs parade march is big for this industry....
or his adding lions and elephant bones and more to a haunt is big...its changing the game..and changes perceptions..now a haunt can be like a museum...
or even hitting your costumer's in the parking lot with amazing actors...
the list goes on...
but its passion that is the driving force that changes everything...
all the greats are the same...
haunted overload's effigy inspired buildings..etc...its his ...it has Erics stamp on it...
erebus...Eds vision of what a haunted house is...is painted on everything in that house...
house of shock...Ross is soo passionate about this game we all play...maybe too passionate..haha
the next big thing for this industry is sitting out in your garage...
you just take this thing...and add some more of those things to it..
and talk to that guy down the street that knows how to help make this idea happen...
its all in your head and you already know its gonna be great....
when u follow your passion...
you are a leader...
and it doesnt matter if your idea ends up in haunts all over the country...
you are making a living doing what you love to do...and for me that's reward enough...
but your idea just might catch on...
and change how everyone thinks about haunted houses....
hope that came out right...
i better get back to work...
