Thats pretty cool. The commercialization and "franchisation" of haunted houses. Guess Strelak over in Las Vegas is going to be screwed now eh?

I know you did the SAW haunted houses, but that doesnt seem to be as mainstream as this could be...

            very interesting

I would probably go back to visit Vegas just to see this! And my aunt and cousins of course. Lol! I used to live in vegas at one time in the late 90's. Vegas can support something like this year around. St. Louis could never have something like this year around. Aren't you glad your not in Vegas Larry!

I wonder if they're partnering with someone who has haunted house experience?

I know at least one member of this board who would say that this thing is going to crash-and-burn, because he doesn't believe any haunt on the Strip can work. Of course the last two years there was a seasonal haunt right on the Strip in front of New York, New York that did well... I'm questioning the year-round aspect of this new haunt though. That might not be a good move. I think maybe something like an attraction themed around a popular family-friendly franchise like The Munsters, Adams Family, Twilight, Buffy, etc. might work. I could see that being year-round, but as for a straight-up horror/haunt? I'm not so sure. Guess we'll get to find out!

Geez... I moved away from Vegas, and two weeks later they open a black light Kiss (band) mini-golf. Now two months later they announce this year-round haunted attraction. Guess I'll need to take a trip back. If they announce that they're opening a re-vamped Star Trek: The Experience, I'll know that the universe is indeed laughing at me.

The corporate/celebrity name certainly won't hurt it's success.

He may have experience in the film industry, but this is a completely different industry. Lucky for him he has the budget to pay people to build it for him. :?

The question is does this really expand across America, does this really succeed in Las Vegas? What do you think of that? The one thing I will chime in on there is if you are renting space in that new vegas City Center I'm going to say NO... the rent is probably unreal and do succeed you'd need some massive amounts of attendance. The hotels themselves somewhat trap people with over the top shows that cost like $100 bucks a pop... I'm thinking people are not traveling to Vegas to see a haunted house, rather party, party, party and gamble.

I see this one striking out just like Ron Howard struck out many moons ago... just like the Elvira haunts didn't catch on, just like the Halloween/Freddy/Texas Chainsaw houses no one cared.

Honestly, I don't think most people know Eli Roth, those movies Cabin in the Woods (SUCKED) and Hostel (AWESOME) / Hostel 2 (SUCKED)... this guy isn't making a name for himself as a director but rather as an actor. He's actually really good... loved him in the Inglourious Basterds.

In the end I don't think people really know who the guy is, love his films...

With all that being said I think the haunt sounds very interesting with a straight adult theme, and I'll want to check out this haunt. Do I think the haunt will be good yes I think it will, however I don't think his name will make people run out to see it because he just isn't that well known, I think the haunt will get more peoples interest simply based on the straight adult theme. In the very end I think it will fail because of the massive rent you probably have to pay over at that location and it seems most haunts in Vegas do not survive.

So we'll see ... I personally look forward to seeing this haunt and checking it out. I'm betting it will be very cool, different, unique, and interesting.

It's hard to succeed as it seems like people really only think about and want to visit hangs during Halloween. Only us "SPECIAL" people on this forum appreciate haunts year round. It's just a shame there is not enough of us to make more year round haunts succeed.

When I first read this I thought they were doing it downtown, near the Neonopolis. That area is trying to draw people to it with special attractions (they tried buying ST: The Experience). The rent is probably cheaper too.

City Center is interesting. It's right in the middle of the high end hotel/casino/club area, but I don't think rent is as high we might think. City Center needs attractions to get people to come. It's been way overbuilt and there's plenty of space. My guess is they gave him a sweetheart deal for a few years. After that, rent will increase, and it's either a big success or they move.

he knows we would bring our huge fan base to the casino...btw ..later when i get turned upside down they will just lease out to someone new... doesn't seem like a good idea to me...they just want bodies inside their doors...then blam gotcha biatch...
in order to see the orchestra ...you must turn your back on the crowd...

Eli Roth directed Cabin Fever (came out in 2002), not Cabin in the Woods. And both were pretty good... if not great movies, but for different reasons.

Cabin in the Woods was directed by Drew Goddard and written by Joss Whendon/Drew Goddard.

I'm not a fan of his shock horror angle, but I like Eli Roth for the most part. I think he's introducing a new generation to horror movies, much like the Saw franchise has done. Most people who like horror movies should know who Eli Roth is from the Hostel franchise. I'm not sure an average movie goer knows he was even in Inglourious Basterds.
