rigid extruded polystyrene (xps) foam insulation

This is what I need. Owens Corning has the market at Home Depot for $12.00 per sheet. I'd rather not spend that kind of money on insulation sheets that Im gonna carve scenes into. I'm certain there is a non pink brand that is a fraction of the cost, but I can't find it.
Anybody?

When you think about it $12 isn't bad per panel when you compare it to $150 per panel vacu form!

Expanded Polystyrene is what you are looking for or EPS is what it is normally called. Im pretty sure there is an EPS manufacturer near you.
www.pdmfoam.com this is expanded polystyre which is white beaded foam- it works just as well and you ought to be able to get 4x8' 2" thick sheets for around $9 each.

Thanks Allen....We've used the owens corning on smaller projects....Gonna make a rather large purchase and trying to keep the total under control.

If there are any refrigeration companies around you, sometimes you can speak to them and get EPS that they've had to pull from a job. I got 40 sheets (4'x8') of 3 inch blue EPS foam for free from a local company here, as long as I would haul it all off. Just a thought. Also, if you have a Tractor Supply Company nearby, they'll usually give you the large foam blocks that they use as spacers between trailers. Hope this helps!

Boat Dock Foam! If there are any lakes nearby then you might find some free foam. Even encapsulated foam is being fazed out for some hollow plastic floats in my area. I have scored about 2500 cubic feet worth in the last couple years.

You know that if you purchase through home depot they have a program called volume pricing which generally saves you about 15-17% off your purchase on average. You should contact their pro desk at that store to find out more. Just an idea to share
