  • Cheese cloth

How about cheese cloth. Anyone heard of a "flame retardant" cheese cloth? Or is this something that must be sprayed? If it is to be sprayed are there any problems with it as far as saturation, etc.?

    Spray it.

If you get the cheapy colored cloth, it's gonna drip dye off of it.

I'd soak it, not just spray it.

Only my thoughts after reading about it.

          Cheesecloth

Great thanks guys. I was hoping that would work beings the cheesecloth is so lightweight/flimsy...wasn't sure it'd hold up to a swatch test. I'm buying a 100 yard bolt...wonder if i left if rolled up and soaked/submerged it in a barrel it would work the same?

It will work, just leave it in there for a day so it has time to penetrate.

What are you planning to do with the cheesecloth pickle?

                Just curious.

                  Uses...

Making cheese...what else? It's not like my FM is every going to let me open this thing!!! LOL Nah, seriously, going to use it all over, draped from trees as moss, on our several trellis props, all around creepy vibe decor. We have a large swamp scene where we'll be using most of it. Love cheesecloth, can make anything look bad!

That's a cool idea. Are you doing the swamp scene indoors? Im assuming that's the case due to the flame retarding, but figured to ask... sounds expensive if so! Lol about the fm sorry to hear all his bs. Outdoor will be the way I start!

                      swamp

Yeah, its all inside & the swamp is about 3,200' sq.ft. The cost of the overall project has been pretty accurate EXCEPT for all the additional BS this FM is throwing at us. Yeah he's been a real piece of work to deal with...but we'll get thru his shit...eventually!

                        Helpful hints about FMs

Just a side note about FMs. I know they mean well (usually) and they are ALWAYS safety concious but I also know they can be the biggest pain in the *** making you want to pull your hair out!!!

Here is how I usually deal with them. I keep in contact with them year round and make friends with them (trust me, this helps). Go get him/her and take them out for coffee or bring some doughnuts down to the fire station. I ask them questions regarding safety and fire to show that I truely care about those issues. Make an evacuation plan and place fire extinguishers around. I might throw in the fact that my father is a retired fire fighter and that I have a degree in Emergency Management too, hey it can't hurt!

If they see you as an allie and not a liability their attitude turns around 180 degrees.

Seriously though if anyone is having issues with their Fire Marshall PM me and I will help you out in coming up with a mitigation plan, emergency operating procedure, or whatever.
